For Viscera 106, we welcome Balam to the series with live recording at Artlab. The recording sees Balam play alongside Pablo Harymbat & Andy Menutti at his own club night, Club del Ritmo.

"Balam is a musician, producer and DJ from Buenos Aires, Argentina, focusing on electronic music and world music, combining modular and analog synthesizers with real and weird percussion sounds creating a unique atmosphere making every track an acid and psychedelic voyage through Latin-American nature and culture."

With the above in mind, this has seen Balam's releases land on labels that include Multi Culti, Pets Records, Get Physical, Hard Fist and more, and we're delighted to have him involved for the next mix in the series.

Next on the show: space commander Pim Secle @pimsecle from Montenegro!  Pim Secle (aka Vesko Lazović) is a DJ and producer from Montenegro.  Pim has shown an interest in electronic music since he was a child. It all started in the early 90's when his parents bought him the first synthesizer Casio SK 1. On that two-and-a-half octave keyboard he tried to reproduce music he was fascinated by from producers like Giorgio Moroder, Cerrone, Falco, Kraftwerk and many others. Pim believes the earliest times in his life influenced his current style, which is dominated by Indie Dance, Dark Italo sounds from the 80s to the strong TR909 rhythms of the 90s. 

Pim Secle has so far released his music on record labels such as 
Nothing Is Real, Sinchi Collective, Espacio Cielo, Buttress, Engrave, NEIN as well as on his label Save For after Midnight that he runs with Buba.

Melómana opens the year with a compilation that brings together producers who have marked and defined the musical orientation of the label. Its reference 039 is not only a testimony of long-term work, it is also the announcement of what is to come this year 2024.

The compilation brings together songs by artists such as Panka Panka, Azaria, Yahaira, JGR, Jackwasfaster, Ludviq, Nick Hanzo, Macaulay, Mijo, Pastor in Vegas, Rubinskee, Ademarr, Joseeph. Established talents on the scene, as well as emerging projects, offering an approach as designed for the track as it is for home listening. Altogether, we find fused rhythms and rich soundscapes that lead us to an exploration as fluid as it is captivating. The album offers us a dynamic contrast that shows the versatility of a timeless project, created from talent, meticulousness and sonic coherence.The level of production of these guys is intense but, on the other hand, the care of the sounds they release is at the level of those who do things because they want and with the time they really need. The tracks have strength and jump over the prevailing conventions, knowing how to avoid the most recurrent rawness and darkness, seeking dance but without predictable tricks and without exceeding an understandable level of experimentation suitable for the dance floor.

We could say that each producer summarizes their intentions in this compilation, seeking novelty without losing nostalgia, that they play with the genre but without falling into predictable tricks, nor into the arrogance of those who get wrapped up in a genre or mannerism to demonstrate that They have personality. And this is just the beginning, because this year Melómana is going to bring us many surprises.

Xpresso Martina (Charlot van Heeswijk) is a creative powerhouse known for their work as a photographer, filmmaker and visual artist before venturing into a DJ career.

As a fresh face behind the decks but no stranger to the Berlin scene, Xpresso Martina has been turning heads and seducing dancefloors with infectious grooves and vocal-driven, genre-fluid sets.

Their unique track selection promises a tasteful blend of Synthwave, Disco, Italo, New Beat and EBM complemented by cosmic acid basslines and uplifting House — e�ortlessly weaving contrasting genres and moods into an atmosphere infused with emotion, evoking feelings of 80s and 90s nostalgia with a modern spin.

Next to holding a residency with EBM and darkwave label Crave Tapes, Xpresso Martina has been running a party series with their Berlin based collective R27, aiming to showcase local and international talents. Driven by their own desire to defy categorisation and a strong belief in the transformative, therapeutic power of dance music they aim to curate spaces in which both, divisions between people and musical genres, are transcended to foster a harmonious and diverse collective experience.
