Since meeting John, I have flattered barmaids who were once, albeit not quite, many famed models in the heroin-chic 90s, drunk eye-crunchingly strong liquor from a hip flask, subjected myself to his mixes on Disco Suicide and Pollylove, not to mention dancing the night away in hidden away dance clubs with revolving dance floors. London certainly takes a neon shade when you're hot-footing the nightspots with John.

It's been a while since we wanted to have french producer Mmyylo on our mix series. Based on Biarritz, Mylo has been releasing music on labels such as Damon Jee's imprint, Dust & Blood, Sincopat, Nein, Global Underground...

His love for analogue synths, guitars and voices has brought him into playlists by the likes of Permanent Vacation, Local Suicide, Magic Tape, Les Yeux Orange and DJ sets by Dixon, Danny Tenaglia, Damon Jee, Curses and Vox Low among many others.

For this special occasion, he's recorded a mix with his own music, both released and upcoming, resulting in a dark and intense one hour journey, just how we like it.

Play Pal Mix 062: MMYYLO (Dust & Blood / FR)

Zaratustra is a Paris-based DJ/Producer who thrives in Indie Dance and Dark Disco genres. Lately, with his latest "White Magic" EP on Ulla Records and releases to come on the Parisian label Skylax Records, he has been blending rock instruments with electronic rhythms, focusing on 80s-like vocals and electric guitars. Other releases are expected on indie dance labels such as Quixotical Records, Mélopée Records, Nubians of Plutonia, and Club Mackan … As a DJ, he likes to take the audience on a dark and mysterious journey.

FEINCAST XXVI: Zaratustra

Bonnie Spacey had her musical light bulb moment after hearing Miss Kittin & The Hacker for the first time. It was the turn of the millennium and this introduction led her to dive deeper and deeper into electronic music. 

When she eventually decided to pursue it herself, as a DJ and producer, she began to pair these sounds with another of her formative influences, her intrinsic love of guitars, which was passed down through her guitarist father. She explores the intersection of these sounds though indie dance, heady techno and dark disco, in both her DJ sets and her own output.

As a space to share her own music and those of likeminded artists, in 2019 she launched Critical Monday, a label dedicated to a club-ready concoction of techno and rock-orientated music. So far she's welcomed the likes of Curses, Damon Jee, Shubostar, Tony Y Not, Günce Aci and Mala Ika to the imprint, all of whom share her love of these potent sonics. 

As she jets off to Mexico on a tour, we locked her in for a mix which travels through whirring, driving wave, indie dance and hypnotic techno.

We welcome Nantes based dj Mystery Kid to our mix series.

Banned for life from intergalactic dancefloors because she refuses to kneel before the reptilian techno, our heroine is on her own. Mystery Kid, the masked digger, decided to go behind the earthly booth; armed with her tracks of soft bitches, this baby DJ, always pushing back the BPM of the dark disco, navigates between muscular italo and ebm spaceship. 
Invited to the famous Made Festival (Rennes), winner of the Tremplin du D3 Festival (Angers), of the tremplin Riffx du printemps de Bourges (Bourges), and mother of the Bakery and is part of the very closed club of La Room Records.

Disco Suicide Mix Series 057 - Mystery Kid

Bam! We are slowly moving towards the summer and that means the festival season, but for now we are still enjoy the clubs till deep in the night. There are only a few that can catch that club-feeling in a mixtape so well as Betty does! She's not only the half of Nouveau Futur (a duo co-founded with her friend Neurotiker), but is also a true night-life veteran! Hence, we are hyped that she recorded TR161 with nearly 1,5 hours of club-bangers, enjoy!

@therealheidenreich is an up-and-coming artist from East Frisia who currently lives in Berlin. After years of listening to techno and house music typical of Berlin, he discovered his passion for indie dance and began to be inspired by artists like Manfredas and Red Axes.

Heidenreich began his musical career as a multi-instrumentalist in a band before focusing on producing music. Using Ableton, he creates his own unique sounds, characterised by deep and driving basses, atmospheric sounds and psychedelic guitar riffs.

Heidenreich has since released his music on a variety of renowned labels, including Duro, Jane Musica, HEARec, Belly Dance Service, Heimlich, Bonkers, Wuza Rec., Sinchi, Nein Records and Espacio CIELO. He is known for his DJ sets in and around Berlin, where he takes the audience on a musical journey.

In the midst of the great heat of the city of Culiacán, the electronic sound that emerges at night has been taking diverse and stimulating forms thanks to the work of a group of young musicians. What happens in a place that seeks to escape from the dangers born of violence through creativity and dance? A group of boys seeks to create another possible perspective by feeling the harmony and vibrations of electronic music.

One of them is ROLIVA, a musical project by Ricardo Oliva, who has become a benchmark for electronic music in northern Mexico and the Sinaloan capital and has attracted the attention of pioneers of the genre such as Alexander Robotnick and innovators such as Justin Robertson. His music intervened with remixes by significant artists from the acclaimed Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene such as Damon Jee, Simple Symmetry, Alejandro Molinari, and Cabizbajo.

This is thanks to the multiple recordings that have been published through national and international record labels such as Duro, La Volta Ros, Roam, Night Noise, Dogs & Vultures, Nein, and NATIVO, his own insignia where together with his colleagues they provide a safe space for artists from the region and promote a new perspective of it.

Coming from the tradition of playing in Punk band projects, Roliva found in electronic music an opportunity to continue exploring the world musically speaking. The artist's sound takes many different forms that make his recordings and presentations a great experience, oscillating between nods to Disco, euphoria, dance, acid, and even the most intense and psychedelic sounds.
