Apple Grove

This instrumental track is a study of a four-note motive and its variations in free form. The leslie organ carries the motive with complementary strings and synth sounds, and some percussion. Lichen is known for its extraordinary resilience but also for being a fragile orgnic entity that grows on the nothern trees and rocks.

Tears of Lichen

Silent Valley is a mixed band piece that draws freely from the late 19th-century Central European Christmas and other ceremonial music traditions, where bell motifs and march forms were intertwined. The instrumentation uses a set of synth sounds, organ, piano, flute, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, drums, strings and french horn to create a feeling of the cover image featuring Lake Bennett with Aurora Borealis. Located in Canada’s Yukon region along the historic route of the Klondike Gold Rush there once stood the Bennett City, a gold miners’ town with population partly of European origin, and mostly from Brittish Columbia. A log church was built around 1898–1899 under Presbyterian auspices. Today the area is abandoned, but as a National Historic Site of Canada along the Chilkoot Trail, it is a popular destination for hikers and history enthusiasts.
