Debut single by the New Fast Automatic Daffodils from 1989.   Scratchy, fast and furious - wonderful energy and still sounds great!  Recorded in a dingy studio somewhere in the Elephant and Castle, produced by the band and and Dave Mercer.
 
Original line-up of Andy Spearpoint (Vocals), Justin Crawford (Bass), Dolan Hewison (Guitar), Perry Saunders  (Drums).  It was "Lions" that got the likes of John Robb and John Peel supporting the band.

X is featured on elliot green's debut album 'United States', produced by John Parish and engineered by Head and Mark Bowyer. The album was recorded at Smallworld Studios, Yeovil, much frequented by Polly Harvey and sadly no more. A very special three-piece, whose music will always be close to my heart and on my playlist. Unfortunately they never got past the first album. However, they left us with this classic album, a couple of singles and quite a few unreleased recordings. As Playtime gets more active I've got no doubt more people will discover and love them as much as I do.

Elliot Green -Red Rum

Too Many Words is taken from the album 'Another Time (1989 - 1994)', a collection of recorded material by Manchester band The Rainkings. 

The Rainkings originally released two EP's on Playtime - ‘Sictransitgloriaswanson’ (1989) and ‘Get Ready’ (1990).  Too Many Words is also featured in the forthcoming film Spike Island.

Playtime Records is an independent recording company founded in Manchester, 1988.  We are currently making most of our catalogue available during 2013  along with unreleased material and a number of compilations.

Playtime was fortunate to be a part of a thriving Manchester music scene in the late 80's and early 90's, releasing records by bands including New Fast Automatic Daffodils, Inspiral Carpets, the Rainkings and Molly Half Head. In 1994, the label relocated to London where for another three years it continued to develop artists from Manchester and beyond. These included Bandit Queen, tc hug and Elliot Green.

We have no immediate plans for signing any new artists but you never know....... we still love hearing new music....so get in touch.
