One night a long time ago an old friend and I were walking in the vacant industrial section of downtown. Why we were there I no longer remember. It must have been late fall, the brisk air was accentuated by the clear dark blue sky punctuated by the bright points of twinkling lights. A vivid moon shone down upon us. We started hearing muffled low frequency pulsations. Our curiosity was awakened. We eventually found an abandoned looking building the low pulses were emitting from.

We bent our heads through the doorway with a missing door just to take a peak. We saw a dimly lit red, timeworn staircase. After looking at each other with a non verbal agreement we found ourselves traversing up the numerous steps. On top the landing there is a bulky doorman halfway sitting on a bar stool. As we got towards the top we started to hear the music better. A sound I never heard before. Thunderous booms, perky snaps, gliding basslines with angelic melodies that beckoned you to the dance floor.

When reaching the top of the landing we were face to face with the large fellow. We did not speak at first. Was he going to ask for our ID's or a cover? We just stared at each other. After some awkward time passed I asked him, "is this a club or a private party or something?" He looked at us grinning with a dazed look in his eyes and his low bouncer voice, "it's the club of your dreams." I asked “is there a cover?” “You just need to be in REM”, he replied. With that he gestured with his left hand for us to enter. As we walked by I asked, “does the club have a name?”

He replied again with his low bouncer voice
 “Disco Electravous!”

Pleatheristic is an indie-dance duo from Chicago consisting of Roland Ronquillo and John Carpenter. Their music has unique elements of EDM, indie-pop , and psychedelia. The duo started as live PA performers, performing in Chicago their brand of electro-house, operating sequencer hardware and electronic percussion.
Pleatheristic released their debut album "The Bitter Suite" in 2015. In a radical change from their Live PA beginings the album is guitar heavy and layered with lush sad shoe gaze riffs inspired by likes of Johnny Marr to Nile Rodgers. The songs on  the album fluctuates from indie rock to all out disco grooves.
Now in early 2021 Pleatheristic is releasing their follow up, an EP called "Disco Electravous". The five song collection of thick synth textures and electronic percussion.
