Bone Dry is a song about ambivalence toward sobriety and came from some mixed experiences I had with AA and some other secular sober groups that I'm still involved with to this day. The track is probably too sincere, in the sense that I'm wondering if I really want my mom to give it a critical listen.

I had been sitting on these tracks at about 90% complete since the end of 2022. I took a sabbatical from my job in January 2023 and finally decided to push these songs out with Robert DeLong manning the console. He drummed, engineered and produced the tracks, but also had a big role in crafting the soundscapes. I credit him with unifying the vibe of four these four very different songs into one cohesive-sounding project. He and I were in a band that broke up a decade ago called The Denouement, which was fronted by Malachi Ward (who also illustrated the Slip cover art). We've all kinda been doing our own thing since then, but this is my first real solo "release" as an unaffiliated artist, so a big milestone for me personally. At the same time, it felt like a reunion because I had access to Malachi, Robbie and Matt Starcher throughout, and they helped me out considerably with mix and production notes.
