"I’ve always been sensitive to my surroundings and the world is in a very vulnerable place at the moment. I felt I needed to express my true emotions through something a little bit different to a conventional DJ mix and also that just writing one song was not going to be enough.

It was almost like composing a score, the only difference being that the pictures were only in my head. My ambition was for the music to evoke a visual response in the listener rather than just an emotional one. To do that I took some audio snippets of real life current affairs scenarios that really struck a chord in me and then used my DJ instinct to think of a track/musical piece that would fit well to that particular scene. Sometimes when I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted I added my own music over existing music or did my own sound design to create my own sound effects and also wrote some original pieces in the moment. It was very important to me to create ultimate flow and I felt this could only have been achieved without having any beats supporting the music. I also didn't want to make it eclectic nor constant as I felt that would disrupt the listener’s focus emotionally. There is a strong dynamic range throughout similar to classical music and also some parts that are almost meditative and then in contrast some more intense moments.

"We recorded our podcast outside, in the sun, at a close friends palace in the countryside. We wanted to go on quite a trip, so we ended up with over 3 hours, which is the longest podcast we’ve ever made. We’ve been excited to put this mix together for a while and show off some of the new music that is being released on our home labels, Oleeva Records, and Nie Wieder Schlafen as well a few of our own unreleased productions. So we have included about 20 unreleased records in there and we looking forward to seeing what people think. Peace and love, Enjoy! "

Born and raised in the French speaking part of Canada, Mike has been mixing for few years now. Inspired by all cultures, he is curious about exploring all sounds, and playing a more diverse range of tracks. 

Raised on classic hip hop, he has only dived into electronic music in the past few years. The genre has satisfied the craving for driving, grooving melodies. Developing a passion for moving dance-floors, he uses DJing as a creative outlet; a means to tell a story. Obsessed by the deepest of sounds, his goal is to transport his listeners; through his evolving mixes.

Nhar — DHM Podcast #548 (October 2018)

For the last episode in this year’s anniversary month of August we’re happy to add a special treat to the Schirmchendrink menu: A Spanish version of the Mai Tai – mixed by the terrific music producer Pablo Bolivar and consisting of releases on his own label Seven Villas.

Born in Santander, Spain, in 1981, Pablo took his first steps into the music business by studying Sound Engineering at Barcelona’s Crash institute. Following this, he worked as a sound engineer for a number of years following his graduation in 1998.

After releasing his first LP on Barcelona’s „Regular“, the Spaniard has gone from strength to strength, with further releases on imprints such as Desolat, Culprit, Einmusika and, of course, on his own labels Seven Villas or Avantroots.  

There is often a deep, mystical feeling locked inside Pablo’s music. He once said that this comes from his homeland, and its grey and rainy days, the beautiful green landscapes and endless summers. And this is beautifully transported through his music, like in his latest work, a co-production with his fellow countryman Squire on Lee Burridge’s TRYBESof.

Besides music production, the name Pablo Bolivar also stands for meticulously crafted DJ performances: A combination of his his own mesmerizing Techno cuts with records unearthed from his regular excursions crate digging as well as from other artists he admires.

This wasn't your everyday Summer camp, this was a magical Fairy forest with a very selected, and well-vetted group of magical people, which turn into an epic night of beats that took us to one of the most uplifting mornings of our lives.
