"Cherchez-Pas" is a song that resonates with me on multiple levels, both musically and narratively. Originally performed by Madleen Kane, this track was released in 1981, a period when disco was beginning to wane from the mainstream. Although it wasn't a major hit, the original trumpet arrangement immediately captured my attention. The song narrates the story of a woman on the dance floor, yearning to stop searching for love and simply enjoy the moment with her dance partner. This theme of finding connection on the dancefloor struck a chord with me, being one of the principal myths of disco.

My deep appreciation for disco was shaped by my love for Madleen Kane's "Forbidden Love" and "Fire in Your Heart," both of which epitomise the Eurodisco style thanks to the masterful production by Jim Burgess and Thor Baldursson. In my rendition of "Cherchez-Pas," I sought to pay homage to this classic Eurodisco style while adding my own contemporary flair. I focused on the drawing out its simplicity and elegance. I also introduced spoken French elements during the break, which evoke the ambiance of a Parisian evening, adding a personal and immersive layer to the track.

Reimagining "Cherchez-Pas" was a deeply rewarding process, allowing me to delve into the song's emotional depth and infuse it with my personal experiences and interpretations. It stands out on my album as a tribute to the enduring charm of disco and the personal narratives it can convey.
