After releasing label co-founder Willy Parker's "Back from Death" EP in August of 2020, Frankfurt-based music and arts imprint SOPTIK is back with the first installment of their new VA series "Selected Tracks", out on December 4th and available on all platforms including Beatport, Spotify and Bandcamp.

The compilation of 11 unique and original productions showcases the label´s resilient diversity of both roster and sound, cautiously balancing modern Techno varieties with more analogue and experimental vibes. Ranging from percussive and evolving soundscapes of tracks like Confusion´s "Disparity" or "Y'All Got Problems" by Houston Stiller to the more synth-driven and progressive nature of pieces like Decka´s "Unheard" or Norberto Lusso´s "Olliphane", the EP covers multiple symphonic and rhythmic facets of the genre on a diverse Bpm spectrum - all while maintaining a clear and coherent aural aesthetic.

Through its seamless fusion of airy pads, subtle drums and increasingly distorted and modulated basslines, the opening track "The New Normal", contributed by Unknown Movements label owner Other Form from Bristol UK, introduces the central focus on complex grooves and the evocative, gloomy atmosphere present throughout the release. Previous collaborative efforts between the two imprints resulted in the early 2020 publication of "Coping Strategies for Progressive Persuasions" on eight-inch tape, featuring original tracks by Willy Parker, Vlaeminck and Decka.

Contrasting more delicate and downscaled pieces by Hych, Senh and Vlaeminck, tracks like "News in Sport" or "A Light Emerge From The Ground" by label debutants Stefan Czech and Messiahwaits exemplify the more dancefloor-focused, fast-paced side of the EP. The final track, "Alzirr" by Willy Parker, concludes the release by merging distinct atmospherical themes, a sizzling high- and a commanding low-end.

With the creation of the „Selected Tracks“ series, the young label intends to incorporate a network of both upcoming and established artists and musicians who reflect and refine the SOPTIK sound. Follow @soptik_ on social media for updates on upcoming releases and events!
