Kicking off our return from hibernation in the Subversive Mix series is Silas.
Michael Cushen, the Subversive resident designer and artist has been branching out during lockdown and took a deep dive into mixing. The result of this was the Alias 'Silas'. 

Michael is well known around the country now for his phenomenal pieces of work including hand drawing the Subversive logo, and his event artwork. Most notable was his event artwork where he hand drew and animated Sarah Mooney & Dyl Moore.

The mix from Silas is full of Dark industrial techno, with smooth transitions and acidic basslines throughout. This is a fast & hard mix with tracks from the likes of Surgeon & EAS.

Hoping to take his musical project to the next level when restrictions lift, Silas will be a name to keep an eye on in the coming months. His instagram is @michaelsilas_

Hailing from Wexford, Silas is a resident graphic designer for @subversivemusic whose work has been recognised and shared throughout. Whilst delving deep within the industry as a graphic designer, he took upon discovering his artistry in sound, which led to his alias 'Silas'. With over 3 years of mixing and crate digging, Silas' mixes are often full of hard, industrial, old school and acid techno which is evident in this mix.

Hailing from Wexford and based in Dublin, Silas began as a resident graphic designer for @subversivemusic whose work has been recognised and shared throughout. Whilst delving deep within the industry as a graphic designer, he took upon discovering his artistry in mixing, which led to his alias 'Silas'. His sound is often dark and industrial, followed with hard grooves and rave tracks which can all be heard in this mix.

The persona Silas was created to portray his view of music, which consists of ethereal soundscapes and solid, textured, driving drums. "This was a track I made two years ago when I was experimenting with my sound, I thought it would sound reagge with some dark crazy techno and well this came out, last month when I was on tour in italy I found the file and started to rework the whole track a little more according to my taste now and this is what came out jajaja I hope you like it..."
