After racking up 7 years releasing on Soulvent and gearing up for their third contribution to our celebratory 10th year, are Juho Kavasto and Sainey Gibba, better known by their monikers Askel & Elere. With previous releases ‘Step In’ and ‘Space Dub’ showcasing a decidedly higher octane aspect of their output, this 3rd single delves into the more delicate side of their sound. 

Kicking straight off with YENIAS’ soft vocals, ‘The Light Feels Low’ is a playground of warming bassline, crisp purposeful drums and ethereal vocal chops. The carefully constructed harmony of the track develops from melancholy, to triumph, with soaring bassline glides, encompassing both the agony and the ecstasy. 

We’ll ask you to keep the lights on this Summer, with this heater landing in all good stores on Friday the 16th of May.

 Manchester’s Quantum Mechanix are a drum & bass duo dedicated to merging the raw spirit of classic tech-step with the precision and weight of modern production. With a deep respect for the foundations laid in the late 90s and early 2000s, their sound takes inspiration from the sharp drums, and sub-heavy pressure of that era — but reimagined through today’s sonic lens.

Their raw, stripped back sound resonates throughout this EP, creating originality in a space that is often overloaded with replicas and sound-a-likes. From deep rolling textures to heavy stepping breaks these four tracks exemplify their passion to develop their own unique sound, delivering both technical finesse and unmistakable vibe.

Firmly rooted in drum & bass tradition their forward thinking production combines intricate drum programming, tension building atmospheres and chest-rattling low-end.
