Playing a major role on both the ‘Programmed V1.0’ and ‘Programmed V2.0’ EPs, it was only a matter of time before EastColors released a full single with Program. Naturally, he’s stepped up. And he’s done so with two prize-fighting productions.

‘Toys’ is a one-way ticket to the furthest boundaries of the cosmos. Warm pads purr while a frosty arpeggio twinkles and subtle guitar strums shimmer softly in the background. An ageless reminder of how delicate certain elements of D&B can be when conjured in the right hands, ‘Toys’ will instantly arrest your crowd’s imagination. Countering the dreaminess with raw bass drama, the beats and chubby subs ensure full weight and presence. Complete with a modest, memorable vocal refrain, it’s the perfect balance of elements.

‘Creeper’ sets a much darker agenda: Opening with oceanic synth washes, an unrelenting breakbeat looms ominously in the mix. Firing hi-hats take the lead before we’re plunged into a cavernous drop where layers of irresistible bass envelop us. What follows is an industrial strength roller of junglist proportions. Referencing the past to lock fully into the future, this is EastColors at his most chiselled and uncompromising.

Russia’s a hotbed for D&B talent right now, but few of its exports come close to EastColors in terms of creative skills and technical abilities. A crucial contributor to the label since its earliest incarnations: It’s time, once again, to get with the Program!

‘Ten Years of Med School’ celebrates the plethora of talent to have emerged over the past decade showcasing snapshots of the imprint’s most memorable releases alongside hints of an even brighter future. Originally the understated sister label of Hospital Records, Med School is now a standalone soldier playing a significant role in electronic music, scouring every hidden corner of drum & bass and beyond.

The release showcases 18 brand new and exclusive tracks, including some stunning remixes of the label’s finest moments. Ivy Lab lead Etherwood’s uplifting ‘We’re Nothing Without Love’ down a more ominous path while Kimyan Law strips down Royalston’s drum crazy ‘Jungle Gone Down’. Frederic Robinson injects a cloud-like bounce into Keeno’s ‘Nocturne’ and Bop gives ‘Pray’ by The Erised a stunning 170bpm rework.

The album also features a host of new creations and collaborations. Etherwood and Royalston prove that opposites attract on ‘Eyes On Me’ which brilliantly combines subtle, soulful overtones with a dark, metallic allure. Newest Med School recruit Whiney presents the deep, melancholic magic of ‘Nightfall’ while label veteran Lung returns with the energetic ‘To Infinity & Be Gone’. There are also fresh contributions from the roster’s past, present and future, including works from Anile, Rawtekk, G.H.O.S.T, Blu Mar Ten, Joe Syntax, Electrosoul System, Sunchase and more.

The ten year celebrations don’t end there as Etherwood rediscovers some back catalogue highlights and blends with the album’s new material in a continuous DJ mix of 100% Med School music.

The quality of the label is without question and this release is no different. Med School stays true to its foundations of championing forward-thinking and emerging talent - here’s to the next ten!

Imba’s story started when he began pouring over the many genres electronic dance music had to offer. It was here he found a home within drum & bass, having perfected his craft over the past two years and taking influence from a multitude of definitive artists, from Technimatic to Koan Sound. His diversity and creative draw comes from a vast musical knowledge, a knowledge he created whilst meticulously expanding his record collection, as well as his own back catalogue with every stellar cut he’s followed from his first release. 

Already being pedestalled by the scene’s most exciting independent imprints, Imba returns to Good Karma Music for a four-track EP that’ll highlight his impressive musicality. With his first notable output on the Perth based label, the ‘Infinite EP’ is certainly a return to form. Its complexly designed landscapes and stunning textures pull you into the deep, liquid vibes he rules supreme over. A stark testament to his ingenious production capabilities and viability as an upcoming drum & bass artist, he manages to capture the soul of more intimate productions whilst catering to the heads. 

Opening track ‘Feel You’ draws your synapsis in with pitched up synths and floating, ethereal samples. Metallic breaks add a foreboding overture to its carefully layered intro, before the track cascades into scuttling percussion and escalating tones. A fresh take on the otherwise delicate sounds of liquid, Imba demonstrates why he’s been pushed into the forefront over recent years. Title-track ‘Infinite’ follows suit, a collaboration between Leah Costello and Octo Pi. With beautifully distorted vocals drifting between the intricately manufactured mix, each pad takes you higher and higher into its moody breakdowns. Once again, it’s a play on the traditional, uplifting liquid record.

Finally, ‘Starlight’ and ‘Dynasty’ close the already stunning collection of tracks. Whilst ‘Starlight’ is an upbeat, percussive roller which features littered note arpeggios and a drivingly winding bassline, ‘Dynasty’ brings producer Tremah on board for its combination of wooden instrumentals and explosive bass. Together, they further solidify Imba’s presence within the circuit. By adding yet another two strikingly honed records which prove a timelessness in his production standard.
