This is the 3rd of 3 album preview pieces for the album "above a darkness of earth." Our wish, with this piece and with the whole album, is to offer a calm, meditative piece to help towards a deepening connection with the earth and each other.

Here is the poem that I wrote which inspired this music:
Hum, just above, a darkness of earth

River runs nearby,
gurgles and murmurs, 

sounds out 
under submerged tree trunks, 
pale and immersed in the flow.
Blackness of deep night 
has 
already settled here.

Still,
fine, serrated leaves whisper with the wind,
gently hover over darkness.

Stems from last year
still 
rise up,
Still,
connected to dark earth.

Purple blossoms, in rows of hearts
Still,
hum quietly 
to each other,
just 
above a darkness of earth.

Disquiet Junto 714 dared me to take a song I'd made before and create a remix from someone else's perspective. I had the idea to start with a lovely drone I did when I first got the vintage rackmount Yamaha TX-802. I didn't have any particular remix artist in mind for this, just more or less gave myself permission to play and explore and try to transform a monotonal piece into something you can dance to. 

In addition to the Yamaha, this piece features the rich bass of a Moog Minitaur and the irresistible bump of a Roland TR-08 drum machine.
