Well, I think the lofi sound is so gripping because it taps into a feeling that everyone has. Everyone listens to it and remembers what it was like to make use of a tape recorder, be it in grandparents' cars, older siblings shitty first car, movies and of course first-hand use. Tape recorder sounds are inextricably linked with our childhood, even if we don’t know it ourselves. And as a human being, we’ll I’d say to me personally, I think that we look to our past to help us understand the future. In certain senses this is true, career-wise, rehersals for performance, studying, in the present we look to the past to move ahead. It gives us a feeling of control in a world without control.
