Rautavae is a DJ based in Helsinki, Finland. His journey to electronic music started by attending especially after-hours parties. I’m comforted to know that I have all the time in the world. 
I’m devastated to know that what I do right now is really important. 
As important as what I’ve done is, 
And also as important as what I will do will be. 

I’m devastated to know that it matters.
That it matters that I couldn’t look them in the eyes.
I’m devastated to know that it didn’t mean anything new. 
That It meant that I was fading again. 
Fading into the background, fading into the foreground, it doesn’t matter. 
My state of being was changing, and it felt real. 

I’m comforted to know that I don’t know how long it will take. 
I’m comforted to know that I don’t fantasize anymore. 
At least not as much as I used to. 

I used to envision all the possibilities. 
To imagine everyone I used to know, watching me being close with all the people I have yet to know. 

To imagine that the people I used to know would be impressed by the company I will be keeping, in the future.

That they would like what they were seeing.

I liked imagining that they would be surprised. 
I used my shame to my advantage back then. 
The more I was embarrassed by who I was, the easier it was to imagine the admiration people would feel while watching me become. 

But I’m here now, and they're definitely not watching me.

So here I am, here, and I’m a bit scared by her urgency, but I don’t interrupt her, because I’ve wasted far too much time laying bricks. 

I'm fading again and
She says there is only one thing to do.
I keep fading, but she's saying -
I keep fading into her, keep fading past her, 
she says, 
there is only one thing we can do. 

we have to stop everything - stop eating, stop drinking, stop accepting. 

I tell her I’m in. 
She says we can still smoke cigarettes. 
She fears no one else will join. 
I wrap myself in orange blankets, I light small red candles, I sleep very lightly in my IKEA BED IN BERLIN.

I'm in. If we do it, if we really do it, they have to listen, right?

If we all stop everything, they have to CEASE FIRE, right? 

And if we stop everything, and never start, and we say now, and we say now means now, and we never stop saying it until they have stopped killing people, displacing people, and breaking everything they have.. then.. 

Then all of a sudden, I’m somewhere else, and I am eating, drinking, and accepting, like my life depends on it. 
I am laying brick after brick after brick. 

All of a sudden I'm not stopping. I am making food, cleaning, and keeping things light. All of a sudden I have something to lose. I have to keep living. Nowadays I'm sleeping in a totally different IKEA bed which isn’t in Berlin, and it’s got white covers and baby blue sheets, and I’m comforted to know that what I'm doing right now is really important.

I have all the time in the world, but I wonder how much time there really is in the world…

( ether o ) is an interdisciplinary artist, drummer, producer, DJ, energy and sound practitioner from Taiwan, currently based in Berlin, Germany. Their diverse artistic portfolio encompasses video, sound, sculpture, installation, performance, artistic research, and workshops.

Employing a conceptual approach to music and sound, they view these elements as instruments for storytelling. Drawing on their background as a drummer, they frequently use drums as storytelling devices, incorporating a variety of gestures into their work.

Their performance practice has evolved into an ongoing exploration of the intersection between body, movement, and sound, emphasizing themes of representation, care, and healing within decolonial narratives. These ideas can be found in their DJ sets and have expanded into the production of percussion-based, bass-heavy dance music.

Fragmented voices harmonise with delicate synths and organic textures on open sky.
Wooden machinery clicks and whirs on veil, opening into an inner expanse.

Optimistic warmth and melancholy blend on spirit, knitted with resonant hi hats, scrolling
wavetables and dubbed claves.

Sequenced hand drums and piccolo snares create structure for rising pads and analog bass on death adder, as subtle grooves unfurl under the watchful gaze of digital crows.
The artwork, created by the Amsterdam based digital artist @tharimcornelisse , finds the cycle of life and death in the artificial environment of a greenhouse, digitally blended with patch notes from the first time the music was performed.

Mixes on this channel have become increasingly rare. I often can’t keep up with work-related and other things enough to fit everything into my schedule. Perhaps that’s one of the disadvantages of ageing for me—being busier, less spontaneous, unable to do all the things I used to with the same regularity. It means learning to choose, to prioritise—and those choices are rarely easy.

This mix was long anticipated, and maybe it, too, was ageing before being recorded.

When I thought about the theme Thomas proposed, three visual metaphors came to mind: winemaking, cheese ripening, and the ageing of a tree. All are linked to the cognitive representation that time refines things, giving them depth, texture, and a sense of character. And yet, when we tend to think about our own ageing, it might be less poetic. It’s a deeply personal process—often ambivalent, oscillating between anxiety and fear, curiosity and pride in the journey that has shaped one’s own character. 

That’s exactly how I perceived Thomas’s mix: as a reflection on that complex, intimate experience. Some tracks unsettled me; others sparked curiosity, joy, or a quiet melancholy. By the end of the mix, I felt a warm nostalgia. I’m grateful to Thomas for this multi-layered work, which I experienced through the prism of the *ageing* metaphor.

I’ve wanted to invite Thomas to the mix-series for a long time. I’m a long-time admirer of his music and very happy that we’ve come to know each other personally. I first discovered Thomas through the debut album by RAP, the group he’s part of.

When I lived in Malmö, I shared RAP Junction with my friend @herman240p, who was deeply inspired by the production. After some searching, Herman found out that Thomas, surprisingly, was living in Malmö, too—and that’s how we first connected.

To end this sentimental journey, I want to thank Thomas once again. Earlier, in May 2024, he was looking for someone to help him organise a concert in Belgium. That eventually became the starting point for the @lise.gent concert series that @tobin.verdonck and I have been running—and fittingly, Thomas played the very first show.

@ena-iai is a music producer from and based in Tokyo. He is a major player in the Japanese underground dance music scene for more than a decade. Taking influences from early drum & bass productions, rave sound and abstract hip hop, ENA is recognized for his tight production techniques and massive audio dynamics. Uncompromising, forward thinking and unique, his releases on 7even Recordings, Horo and Latency brought international attention and have led to collaborations with like-minded virtuosos such as Felix K and Rashad Becker which were both invited to perform on the main stage of Berlin Atonal festival (in 2016 and 2017 respectively).  As a DJ, he has been playing regularly in the main clubs in Tokyo such as Unit, Contact, WWW  and Club Asia as well as underground haunts like Forestlimit and Soup for many years. His expert music selection and technical excellence continues to impress the audience in and outside of Japan. Having toured Asia and Europe numerous times and appearing in wide range of prominent international festivals such as Berlin Atonal, rural, Fibre, Mapping and Sun and Bass in the past few years, he is establishing himself as a singular performer fitted to deliver a primetime rave set to a gritty basement fix to abstracted sonic experiments.

I have not been able to recover access to my other account [https://soundcloud.com/ha-kekong] for a couple of years.  I have tried a few times to get back into it but SoundCloud doesn't trust me.  Same phone number, same email addresses, and they still claim that they can't verify my identity.  I created that account about three years ago as a substitute to my regular account which SoundCloud temporarily closed.  They closed it as part of some upgrade procedure in their system, the result of a bug that affected many accounts, about two years ago.  Since SC did not inform its users I didn't know if that was permanent or not, so I created that other account which I can't access.  Don't be mad if I have not replied to your message in the past two years, that's because I never got them ; ) ... You can always reach me here though.

No it's not Gibraltar, but a little bit further West. ... Actually I checked recently and it is further North more than West, I thought I was facing South when in fact I probably was facing the Atlantic ocean, which is why I suppose the waves were of a decent size where we were.
