PBR Streetgang are Bonar Bradberry and Tom Thorpe, a pair completely submerged in the world of club culture their entire adult life. Their debut release ‘Never Get Off the Boat’ dropped in 2008 on Ilija Rudman’s Croatian label Red Music Records and since those early beginnings they have found homes for their signature sound on Futureboogie, Throne Of Blood, 2020Vision, Wolf Music, Crosstown Rebels and Skint Records. Their impressive back catalogue of remixing work includes Kylie, Lana Del Rey, Bryan Ferry, Hot Chip, Friendly Fires, Crazy P and more. 
 
As DJs they have played across the globe at almost every venue and festival of credible note; Panorama Bar, Fabric, Glastonbury, Love International Festival. With strong links to Ibiza, their residencies include We Love at the infamous Space Club, and more recently Pike’s Hotel. Outside of the studio and the booth, they hold a residency on Rinse FM, becoming one of the mainstays of the station hosting international guests and fresh talent monthly. PBR’s label, Kurtz Records, was created by the duo as a platform for their own output and as a stage to champion some of their favourite new artists and remixers.
 
Fast forward 20 years … 20 f’kin years!  To many crowds the world over PBR Streetgang are known and loved for their talents behind the turntables, but to others they are producers and remixers whose eclectic taste and evolving style has seen them enjoy longevity and much critical acclaim. To celebrate this milestone, PBR bring us a rare selection of originals and remixes that show the breadth and depth of their work. Featuring early originals that propelled them into the limelight, like ‘Downstroke’ and ‘J2Thab’, and more recently their stand-out disco tinged nugget from their debut album ‘Late Night Party Line’.  There are also some previously un-pressed remixes like the cult classic rework of Romanthony -  ‘Bring You Up’, the slow chuggy sleaze of Bryan Ferry -  ‘One Night Stand’, and the teary-eyed euphoria of their remix of Hot Chip - ‘Melody of Love’. This compilation represents an honest retrospective of the production and remix talents of PBR Streetgang. Always keeping true to their sound, and true to themselves.

This addition of the PMIX Guestmix, we have Rosso with some funky Disco beats and some of his very own unreleased edits [Bio] Ross Maguire a.k.a Rosso is a producer and DJ from Dublin, Ireland. His first release came in the form of a 3 track disco edits E.P titled 'Rosso Reworks' which gained features from notable influences such as Doubleu and Gazz696. His DJ sets are all about blending groovy house & melodic disco together to showcase as much variety as possible from set to set. Keep an eye out for some more new releases and Irish gigs from Rosso coming straight up in 2018. Please like and share, enjoy.

This addition of the PMIX Guestmix series, I bring you one of my closest and dearest friends Young Sol. With a collaboration of House and Disco numbers, he never disappoints. [Bio]Young Sol was born and bred in the Isle of Man. A huge lover of all sounds and styles on the musical spectrum but specifically drawn to anything soulful or funky. Mixing music at various parties and local festivals for the last couple of years and helping out where he can at Sound Records… The first record shop on the island since the vinyl revival. 

Young Sol incorporates music from every era and genre in his mixes to take people on a journey through time, cultures and countries across the map. From Funk & Soul, Jazz, Hip Hop to Disco, House, Techno and Drum & Bass/Jungle. Always diggin for fresh and new wax or digital sounds. 

Also operates the Brother Bear Podcast series… Weekly sessions of smooth selectors from around the globe. The show consists of some of his favourite artists, upcoming DJ/Producers or any music collectives that are creating musical movements in their hometowns.

Phonk D is back on Exploited’s hallowed Black Jukebox series following the success of his #29 takeover earlier this year. You just can’t keep a good man down...

‘Let’s Shake’ leads the way with serious funk intent, mixing a thumping MJ-esque bassline with some of that late ‘70s / early ‘80s synth magic. Phasing guitar licks sidle up against spunky horn swells and sassy vocal blasts. It’s a track that has ‘party-starter’ written all over it.

‘Reality Dance’ is a chuggier beast, building slowly through looping guitar-and-bass plucks until a feel-good melody emerges. This low-slung, low-tempo groove is in no hurry to lay out its funky machinations, making for a perfect early-evening floor-filler as cocktail glasses clink and glitterballs bling.

‘Players Anthem’ chunks things up with conga-inflected groove and an arpeggiated bassline throb underpinning swooning female vocal harmonies. It rocks a simple arrangement that lets the groove do the talking, with sustained string notes adding an element of tension at the requisite moments.

‘No Limits’ sees Phonk D team up with old sparring partner Sascha Ciminiera for another hot collab. The bouncing off-beat groove pumps pleasingly in classic disco fashion, with a joyous mood built through Rhodesy chords and a scintillating synth line. Swelling horns are buried deep in the mix in the second half to help propel the track higher.
