Green - Eyed Lady

...And the livin' is easy. This is an oldie but a goodie played and programmed after a series of gigs with my community jazz band. We lacked a vibraphone so I figured I'd keep this one simple. I worked this one back when I was first trying to soak up the concept of alternate voicings.

Summertime--Gershwin

Rocking version of the Gershwin favorite. Soloing is a bit lousy, but the piece still grooves with flute, elephant-footed bass, and finger-snapping

This take is more controlled, more "mature", and appreciates the drive rather than trudges through like the first one. This was a pretty cool chart; I couldn't get enough of the solo section for years. Gershwin arr. Sweeney

Summertime In Blue (take 2)

My hand at Lee Morgan's tune. Getting used to interplay between horn instruments. Also, getting used to some sax players' breathiness while they play. Maybe more appropriate for slower tunes, but this works just as well. Also, embracing the 'less is more' in the piano accompaniment. Feel free to dance.

Moving version of Jobim's standard using lone Organ bass & electric guitar, alternating rocking keyboards, and really cheesy drum kit (sorry).
I wanted to try my hand at accompaniment with lots of space between soloist and harmony. Bass could have weaned from the D, maybe I'll do another track with the organ bass doing such. Took forever to come up with suitable solos for each instrument, especially the organ, especially with the buildup.
