Recently, I have been working on a meaningful project: creating a podcast to engage other like-minded individuals, share my life experiences, share stories of other great individuals and how to apply these lessons to your life. I believe we all have a unique message to offer which others can learn from.

This is something I have been contemplating after blogging for a while and it’s time to I give back. If you’re like me, you’re busy. Blogs can be time consuming and reading can become bland. That’s why I love podcasts, they allow me to multi-task, are more convenient to take on the go and make me feel more engaged with the conversation than reading.

On this podcast, I strive to provide insightful and informative audio to help others grow to realize their potential.  To start, I will begin with just publishing my own thoughts. From here, I will start having others on the show for discussion. Together, we can start a community and enrich the world one podcast at time.

Justin Casipit is a movement coach who has covered a lot of ground. (pun intended as he is currently working on building up his running endurance) Justin started his fitness journey in bodybuilding and powerlifting, but after finding himself injured and beat up, long gone were the days of moving just to get strong, lose weight, or compete. This led him to exploring Yoga, gymnastics strength training, as well as a variety of other movement disciplines. 

Justin now understands that the body thrives on variety. Due to the many tools in his toolbox, he helps clients broaden their base of movement which actually equates to achieving higher levels in their sport, as well as longevity. Episode 22: Exploring the Adapting Body to Move Well for Life with Justin Casipit

Kara Duval is a Boston-based Pilates instructor, small business owner of Kara Duval Pilates LLC,  and creator of her online platform, Range. Kara holds an extensive background in classical ballet, which led to her structured, yet fluid Pilates teaching approach. Kara firmly believes in making fitness inclusive and accessible for every BODY. Therefore, she makes sure that ALL bodies leave her classes with exactly what they didn’t know they needed. 

In this interview, Kara really gives a glimpse into why language matters. Episode 23: Making Movement Accessible to All Bodies with Kara Duval

Kellen Milad, owner of Movement Parallels Life, shares how he blurs the lines between disciplines of movement to offer unique programs that account for your physical, mental, AND emotional health needs. With an emphasis on individuality, Kellen guides clients to explore what styles of movement suit them best to focus on longevity and feeling good for life.

Due to his background in psychology, he understands the importance of being able to see people as real human beings, not just robots that can execute plans perfectly all the time. If you are an athlete finding yourself burnt out from structured methods of work or training, Kellen’s style, inclusive of play, flow, and adaptability, may be just the breath of fresh air you need.

Episode 30: Breathing Your Way to Intentional Performance with Kurt Tropiano

Courtney Bishop, High Performance Coach and Host of The POA Podcast, guides you through a gratitude meditation practice. This episode was inspired by Episode 47: ‘The Science of Gratitude and How to Build a Gratitude Practice’ on Huberman Lab, a podcast hosted by Professor of Neurobiology at Stanford University, Andrew Huberman.

To provide a little insight, Huberman explains recent research showing data that support the fact that receiving for yourself or perceiving the narrative of others receiving genuine thanks and appreciation increases your ability to experience gratitude and maintain a positive outlook in everyday life. This is quite different than what many folks think of when they imagine a gratitude practice - which usually takes the form of either writing down what you are celebrating, or meditating on these things you are thankful for.

Episode 36: Bringing More Mindfulness into your Every Day

In this episode, Courtney guides you through understanding how a sustainable lifestyle of pursuing less can not only enhance your quality of life, but is actually of greater service to the world! We discuss where the underlying energy of discontent arises while chasing numerous goals, what’s at stake from living in this manner, and what does it look like to transcend this? If you are someone who constantly feels frustrated while running in so many directions, this is for you!

Many folks are living in excess in our current day; excess in terms of over-working, over-exercising, etc. Some stay busy to avoid processing emotions, others to seek validation from outside, or to feel worthy themselves. Whatever the case, living in excess can be quite barren. Not only can it be straining to your well-being, and therefore not sustainable, it can lead to going through the motions of life rather than moving from a purposeful, powerful and productive presence. By learning to move more intentionally and follow a disciplined pursuit of less, you can begin to see with a clearer heart and mind due to feeling excited and invigorated by the deep, rich, and fulfilling gift that is your life.

I touch on it in the episode, but it’s worth stating here: I’m not saying delayed gratification & the pursuit of more is BAD. This episode is illuminating where a constant pursuit of more can cause Self harm.

Episode 81: Looking Within To Remember who you Really Are With Courtney Bishop

On this first episode, I go into the topic of productivity. We all struggle to cultivate willpower and motivation to accomplish what needs to be done. But by taking less time focusing on doing, can we actually be more productive?

Do you find yourself to be constantly consumed in work or some activity to occupy your time and stay busy? Many of us fall victim to this. It's not to say being busy is terrible, because we know scheduling and planning facilitates results. However, being excessively preoccupied with activities can be detrimental. By allowing more time for "being," we can become more efficient in the doing. See where your mind takes you when you let it wander. Boredom can be powerful, and actually rather interesting.

Episode 1: Are You Being As Productive As Possible?

Recently, I've been working on a meaningful project: creating a podcast to engage other like-minded individuals.  I believe we all have a unique message to offer which others can learn from.

This is something I've been contemplating for a while and it’s time I give back. The podcast derived from a prior project I began as a side hobby; The Pursuit of Authenticity blog. Here, I share nutrition tips, recipes, fitness tips, and other lifestyle advice. If you’re like me though, you’re busy. And while blogging is enjoyable, it can be time-consuming to read. That’s why I love podcasts, they allow me to multi-task, are convenient to take on the go and make me feel more engaged with the conversation.

On The POA Podcast, I'll provide insightful and informative audio to help you grow to realize your potential; physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I'll share stories about following my passions & curiosities, tools and practices I use with clients to guide them around the same, as well as feature stories of other great individuals who've taken the time to find and pursue what makes them comes alive. Together, we'll start a community and enrich the world one podcast at time.

In this episode, I decided to share a recording from a walk I took through the woods a couple months back where my mind got going on society and how it’s changed over time. I imagine people used to be much more curious and adventurous back in the day. Without advanced technology like we have today in our faces in all the time, people had much more downtime to exercise free thought and be outdoors to explore nature. They had more desire to discover because there was still much unknown, almost like they didn’t have a choice because it was just a way of life. Now, we can survive most days and have our basic needs met without a worry which has created a state of complacency. 

I realize after listening to this, it does sound rather cynical. I don’t mean to generalize but I do see this trend occurring as we continue to automate and technology advances. Anything that requires deep concentration of thought, many tend to shy away. Commitment is seen as a burden and we complain when something gets hard. Only you know if this actually applies to you or not. There are plenty of people who are evolving and doing the best they can given their circumstances and that’s all you can ask for.  All I am saying is strive to be better and do your part. What we do now, echoes in eternity. –Marcus Aurelius

Episode 2: Be The Change

Elizabeth Carpenter is a strength athlete who has competed in various sports including weightlifting, strongman and powerlifting. In this interview, we dive into her fitness background and how she evolved into the athlete she is today.  We discuss and offer solutions to adversity we've faced as women who lift weights and, more specifically, pressures of being competitive female athletes.  Finally, we wrap up talking about investments you have to assess when competing that those getting involved in these sports might not be aware of initially. 

If you're just getting into strength training or have been involved in the industry for a while, you will find value from this transparent interview.  You'll learn how to better manage being a competitor and pursuing a hobby you enjoy, despite adversity or external pressures.

Episode 3: Performance Pressures as a Female Strength Competitor with Liz Carpenter

Jason Ralya is a strength and conditioning coach who works with athletes in a variety of different sports. What started with a hobby of lifting weights led to competing in powerlifting and eventually being able to coach others within the fitness industry. In this interview, we discuss the background of how he got started as a strength coach and life lessons he has learned from strength sports. These lessons provided him with greater confidence and changed his perspective for how he viewed himself and his outlook on coaching. Finally, we talk about what he would’ve changed about his journey in competing and coaching to provide some words of wisdom to our listeners.

Episode 12: Little Dipper Yoga + Therapeutic Bodywork

Do you battle with body image issues and feel like no matter what you do, you cannot lose weight/change the way you look? I know many of you are struggling with body image due to being at home more, eating out of boredom, and just feeling thrown out of routine. I've been there! 

Due to quarantine, I was not able to do my regularly scheduled podcast interview for this month, but instead I felt called to put out this guided meditation as a reminder that YOU ARE MORE THAN YOUR BODY. It is easy to get stuck in wishing our bodies to be a certain way, but believing it is just not who we are. 

As kids, we use our imaginations to be whatever we want to be. But as we grow older, we start telling ourselves stories of who we are and they become deeply embedded into our subconscious and guide our actions. Maybe the issue isn't your body, but the stories you are telling yourself. With this meditation, you will become more aware of the thoughts getting in your way of living a life of honor and respect towards yourself. 

This episode will help you become more aware, during and after the podcast, of how you might be able to change your mindset towards living the healthy and vibrant life you dream of. It's time to come from a place of love, kindness, and compassion to step into this highest version of you.
