Some old easy listening using samples from a movie soundtrack scored by Ryuichi Sakamoto. It’s a genre shift but something I’ve loved experimenting around with since I heard the music of the late Nujabes. This track features some vocal work done by myself and my friend Sachiko. I’m very surprised at how much attention this got, especially with Call of Duty 4 montage videos haha. Enjoy!

Early in 2012, the lads from Flight Facilities told me about a great concept for their Triple J Mix Up residency that was happening later in the year, and had a few tracks that they wanted edited. 
The concept for the mixes being a history lesson, not only musically but including global events that occurred at the time the music was released. 

They asked me if I wanted to work on one for them, and I couldn't go past choosing Lou Reed's 'Walk On The Wild Side'.

The mixes were aired on Triple J (Australia) throughout October 2012 and since no one has ever done anything like this before, 
and due to the incredible track lists each mix has, they've proven to be extremely popular. 

This edit was included in the first installment, which also contains edits by Tim Fuchs, Drop Out Orchestra, The Revenge, Skinny Joey, 
In Flagranti, Villa and of course, Flight Facilities.

Pocketknife began throwing parties as a teenager in rural Iowa when he befriended DJ Wolf (an original 70s disco and deep house jock who rocked it with Lil' Louis in Chicago) and then honed his craft with Theo Parrish (Sound Signature) while the two were in art school together.  Production was inevitable, as Pocketknife started to make tracks while splitting time between Detroit and Switzerland.  Now based in Cambridge, MA via Brooklyn, he continues to develop his diverse sound, remixing, DJing and producing with an open ear for a variety of labels and his own imprint, Wilde Calm.
