Really, Really, Wanna

I got SO EXCITED when HM and NN released the stems to one of my fave EP's of 2023 Set The Roof. I instantly knew I wanted to make a 4/4 remix with some hardgroovey/tribally drums and cut up loopy vocals. I felt proud as punch to play this, alongside four other of my remixes/originals, at my set at Taniwha's Den festival 2024.

Made in a fever dream recovering from Shipwrecked music festival earlier this year. Upon hearing the original I immediately wanted to distill some of the floaty airy vibe of some of the music I'd heard at the festival into a dubbed-out grindy deep techno edit with, of course, liberal use of echo.

When Charlie XCX's Club Classics dropped a few months ago just ahead of her culture defining album I had a flash of inspiration to make an edit of it entirely out of other club classics.  So I scanned my archives for tracks in the same key and came up with this ridiculousness! 

But I sat on it and didn't feel confident finishing or uploading it, who needs another remix of this, there are a zillion of them already, but I recently thought screw it, and decided to finish it, add the cool vocal chops from the recent Bb trickz remix and take the plunge.  I wonder how long this will stay up with this many samples in it?! :D

Club Classics (PocketLipps' and it's club classics but it's not edit)

Doechii's 'Alligator Bites Never Heal' is a masterpiece. I fell so in love with it last year I made three edits of tracks from the album!! I'lll upload 'em all eventually but this is the first: a simple housey sped up loopy edit of one of my faves on the album.

I almost felt sacrilegious working on this edit! The original is such a titan of a tune. I can't wait to hear this on a decent system, I took the subs from the OG and they are GIGANTIC. I had a of fun mangling sounds and messing with delay on this one. 

Mala - Eyez (PocketLipps' Edit)

This one is for my family. In the middle of the chaos of having a young family back in 2018 we used to have family raves in the lounge in the lounge to this track to blow off steam amongst the whirlwind that is life for early parents. My daughter would want to cuddle me while I danced around, my son tearing around the lounge from couch to couch as my partner and I grinned at each other....it's a special tune to our fam. 

It's much slower than what I usually play so I wanted to make a faster heavier version and of course couldn't resist a vocal chop. 

Chrome Sparks - Still Think (PocketLipps' family edit)

I could listen to the main melodic loop of this for days. I first heard it on the seminal Box comp (https://www.discogs.com/release/933632) by Greg Churchill And Dean Webb, an essential compilation for me as a teenager in Nelson wishing he could go to Box/Cause Célèbre and hear these tracks on a big system. I like some of the offical housey remixes out there but I wanted to make an updated 4 on the floor version with a funky bassline and a bit of acid.
