Mona was hauled out from between the sofa cushions of our demos folder, an old favourite that took us a long time to bring ourselves to finish and release, for fear of it being gone. 

Mona is the self-perpetuating narrative that runs through ones mind as you see what you desire at a distance further than can be reached. This track has been strained and filtered through our collective struggles of the past few years and is ultimately a reflection of who we were before through the lens of who we are now.

Born from a woozy synth-fueled landscape, Pocket Sun fuses alternative pop, psychedelia, and jazz, crafting an outcome that is both playful and tinged with nostalgia. Their ethereal melodies and hypnotic grooves invite you to shut your eyes and sway into synaesthetic bliss. 

Hailing from Bristol, UK, the band is led by vocalist and synth player, Gina Marie Tratt. Gina's background in 70’s inspired animation spearheads the band's aesthetic, ensuring each release becomes a visual extension of their sound.

Lyrically, Pocket Sun draws inspiration from universal themes such as escapism, consciousness, and nostalgia, infusing these topics with a unique poetic flair that delves into the spiritual depths of our collective experiences.

Pocket Sun have honed their sound over the past four years through a consistent series of singles and EPs. "Wake Up," the lead single from their latest EP, "Binocular" (produced by Ali Chant - known for his work with PJ Harvey, Portishead, and Gruff Rhys), was re-released on Kitsuné, sharing the platform with artists like Hot Chip, La Roux, and Two Door Cinema Club.
The ensemble has continued to refine their live performances, leading to appearances across the United Kingdom. From headlining festival slots, like Inglefest, to their multi-sensory EP launch at Strange Brew in Bristol, the band consistently leaves an indelible mark on the UK's live music scene.

After a string of singles, Pocket Sun’s upcoming album ‘Mirror In Blue Light’, scheduled for release in August 2024, has already seen three singles (and two self-directed music videos) ‘Jupiter,' ‘Familiar’ & 'Hidden Places', all three  receiving widespread support from BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio 1 and NPR Music.
