Two guitars, a drum set, two female voices and a sound saturated with reverb. Influenced by garage and psychedelic music, blending the world of acid westerns and dark mythology, Canyon Spree's music combines melodic riffs to 60s/70s, fuzzy and echoing tones

"Bad Grrrlz* do it well" - From old scool to out of scool -  femisisms have always been a part of Hip Hop. Queen Latifah stated already in 1989 "The ladies will kick it, the rhyme that is wicked. Those that don't know how to be pros get evicted. A woman can bear you, break you, take you."(Ladies First) 
Salt N Pepa followed with "Ain't Nuthin' But A She Thing" in 1995: "The thing that makes me mad and crazy, upset. Got to break my neck just to get my respect. Go to work and get paid less than a man. When I'm doin' the same damn thing that he can. When I'm aggressive then I'm a bitch. When I got attitude you call me a witch. Treat me like a sex-object (That ain't smooth). Underestimate the mind, oh yeah, you're a fool. Weaker sex, yeah, right, that's the joke (ha!)"

This Set is a selection of my favourite feminist Hip Hop across the decades mixed with bouncy beats.

The Musicboard Berlin GmbH is the only institution of its kind nationwide with the aim to fund pop music in new and creative ways, and maintain a dynamic discourse on pop music in Berlin. The Musicboard counts on the innovative power of the music and creative industry. The Musicboard provides a new and courageous form of pop music funding.

The Musicboard is also responsible for the Pop-Kultur Festival, which takes place this year from August 15th-17th 2018 for the fourth time. Because our guests and everyone else involved loved the Kulturbrauerei so much last year, we’re excited to announce that we’ll be able to call it home once again this coming summer during the festival.

Poems For Jamiro are Nina(vocals, piano, guitar) & Laila(vocals, violin). 
Their songs will tell you gloomy stories about forgotten places, imagined childhood heroes, hopes & the comfort of solitude.

In 2013, Nina took a trip to New York & her only companion was a red notebook which would conduce as a vessel for her songs. Enjoying the distance and absence of home she simultaneously created a world of longing and recollection remembering her imagined childhood hero Jamiro.
Adding a voice as crystal clear & cold as the Finnish lakes, Laila & her violin  complete the typical Poems For Jamiro sound.

This music is made to sit back and listen to lead you, like a book, into an 
imaginative world of wanderlust & a wee-bit of darkness.
