Producers are the backbone of any label; developing supportive and genuine relationships with our artists is the core principle of TOR's development. Our 'Amis' series is an ode to the figures that we feel are at the foundation of the label's journey thus far.

To kick off the Amis series on TOR, there was truly only one man for the job. Wassu will always hold a special mantle at the TOR imprint, as the man who inaugurated the label with his Andu EP in 2020. Since then, the New Yorker has turned heads with a string of prolific releases on the likes of Anjunadeep, All Day I Dream, and When We Dip XYZ. With each passing project, Wassu's mastery of warm melodies and boastful basslines deepens, showcasing the ever-evolving sound of the wizardly Wassu.

It's safe to say that Wassu has outdone himself on this one, welcoming a widespread community of producers into the fold. He grabbed the baton & ran with it, sourcing a bounty of material for the debut of Amis. More than anything, this collection of music represents the fact that Wassu is a man of the people; one of the most important characters in the deep & melodic scene. He brings together artists from all corners for our debut Amis project - longtime collaborators, new faces, inspirational acts, studio partners, and burgeoning partnerships all align on Wassu's Amis.

As styles seem to go through a cycle of perpetual renaissance, one gets the feeling there's no innovation in the genre of electronic music. Isn't it strange that the era of best-equipped audio studios and the rising number of artists results in stagnating art forms? Where are the groundbreaking minds of the present epoch? Where are the contemporary equivalents of Mozart, Chopin, or Wagner?
The Malta-based label Armadillo has just reached someone who could become a true leader of this day and age. Facundo Mohrr from Argentina matches the description of a revolutionary artist. Facundo's four-track conceptual material released by the label challenges the status quo. The music is bold, uncompromising, provocative, and innovative. However, in this case, it is not just another buzzword collection. It is true!
The release conceptually connects the four pieces into a 30-minute sonic puzzle. Starting with the opening Don't Feel Bad, where mellow filtered vocoders and funky basslines create a contrast to psychedelic effects with a trippy twist. The second track, Glad You Came, takes the idea even deeper between the hidden corners of avant-garde sounds. Haiku takes the riskiest approach, gambling with every chip in the pot at the peak of a brilliant hypnotic arrangement. The closing work, She is Calling, sticks the landing with a relaxing theme and playground soundscapes.
Facundo Mohrr's brand-new material ranks alongside the greatest works of innovators such as Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, and Ryuichi Sakamoto.
