Premiere: God Colony feat BBYMUTHA 'MUTHA MUSIC'

“Money Dealers” is a previously unreleased alternate vocal version to “Forever More” from Dub Syndicate's 1985 album Tunes From The Missing Channel. 

It can be found on the new Displaced Masters set (out 10 Nov 2017 on On-U Sound) of unreleased early Dub Syndicate tracks from the vaults, released alongside fresh vinyl re-press of the first 4 Dub Syndicate albums and a CD boxset anthology, Ambience In Dub 1982 - 1985.

Serving the same purpose as the recent Return Of The Crocodile set did for African Head Charge, Displaced Masters illuminates the early development of one of the flagship acts on the label, allowing some truly magnificent versions to be heard for the first time. Mostly stripped-back raw takes, they highlight the rock solid rhythm foundation laid down by such incredible players as Style Scott and Charlie Eskimo Fox, as well as three vital soul-in-the-echo-chamber interjections from the late, great Bim Sherman. Essential early-80s dub damage.

Building on that dope deep houser for Rhythm Section, Earth Trax & Newborn Jr. get collaborative all over again, delivering their finest work to date for Paris’ premier collective. Kruczyński and Brocki get right down to business on opener ‘Hypnosis’ working a rib rattling 4/4 and italo bassline into the kind of slinky synth half step that has the girls smudging their mascara and working their hips like a snake. Sultry, sweaty and drenched in echo, this electroid stepper weaves through refined breakdowns and subtle drops, a chiming melody stopping by every now and again to drench your senses in a serotonin flood.

Despite It All

Bad Tracking are a duo from Bristol, the latest project to emerge out of the industrious DIY hustle affiliated with Studio Tape Echo, rwdfwd and an array of associated labels run by Alex Digard and Daniel Davies aka Ossia. The second release on Digard’s own Mechanical Reproductions imprint after the sub-bass crossfire and detonative drum workouts of Via Maris, this release comes as a strong distillation of a boisterous live show that allegedly features all manner of lewd actions, including, thankfully, some obligatory full frontal for the pervs.

On ‘XP-3’ however there are shades of unexpected sublimation forming a signature balanced between hedonism and introspection. There’s plenty of heavy manners in the brute soundsystem discord that dominates proceedings – all crude, chattering percussion and industrial dub treatments – but the climactic and memorable element comes in the form of a purified ambient glow that suggests a clean break of euphoria as much as losing your mind with your head in the bass bin. If Shackleton’s ‘Soundboy Punishments’ were to have met the ‘Endless Summer’ of Fennesz, perhaps it would have sounded something like this.
