Figuring out my new Focusrite 6i6 interface and Ableton Live 9 Lite - First thing I've recorded, ham-fisted hack-guitarist messing around with a few VST plugins. Just teaching myself some basics. I am ignorant of this tech, but I will learn.

Just a sample upload from today's Waxy Zebu rehearsal. First time we've played together in eight months. Second ever attempt at this classic. And first time I've used the Scarlett 6i6 to record the band. Very quick mix and master in Ableton Live just now. I think it turned out rather well, considering all that.

Waxy Zebu - Counting The Beat (take 2)

Another classic piece we're having a ham-fisted crack at for the first time in Waxy Zebu. Doubling drone and bass on the bass guitar with EHX pitchfork and some other stompbox toys. Quite a bit of post-production shenanigans happening here too. 

Waxy Zebu - "Heroes" (take 3)

Just the bassdrone stem from the previous upload of Waxy Zebu's take on "Heroes". Some people have said you can't hear the bass, and that's because it doesn't sound like a bass. We needed to add something to make up for the missing Fripp factor. Obviouly couldn't try and replicate that with just the three of us so instead of playing traditional rock bass I messed with my bass effects to create this instead.

Sounds from Monday afternoon

Here's my first ever attempt at remixing. It's a noisy/glitchy one that builds as it goes on. Feel free to choose not to add it to the Dervish remix site if it's not up to scratch (and it may well not be). I won't be in the least bit offended. 

As this is constructed pretty much just from the drum and bass stems, apologies to Ian for only including about four seconds of him!
