After two decades of redefining electronic music with unconventional and psychedelic club sounds, German DJ and producer Acid Pauli needs no introduction. His third album MOD arrived in September 2020 as a remarkable tribute to the modular synthesizer, the most trusted tool in Acid Pauli aka Martin Gretschmann's arsenal. He created the record almost entirely with modular systems, reveling in the possibilities and stretching the limits of machines that sing to themselves. 

The first part of MOD Remixes saw innovative reinterpretations by Pilocka Krach, JakoJako and other notable names from the Berlin underground. Now on the second part, Acid Pauli's collaborators bring expertise from all over Europe and beyond, resulting in a magnificent international collection.

Well reputed DJ Tennis and Roderic approach "No Kick, No Cry" from completely different directions. The former accentuates the prominent kick drum and adds new layers to the track, making it a true earworm, while Roderic keeps it more low-key, carefully coating the already immersive and ASMR-like soundscape in nuanced texture. 

"Du Brecht, Ich Dub" undergoes a complete makeover by German producer, DJ and vocalist Perel. With two extra minutes and a bright newfound energy, her version plays like a soundtrack for an aerial footage of a neon-lit city. Needless to say, it is an irresistible dancefloor-filler. 

Slovakia-born and London-based artist Lenka Toma adds a warm touch to "Life Polarizer". United by the consuming groove, Acid Pauli's chirping and bubbling soundbites come alive with Toma's techno backdrop.

"Sublime Frequencies Of Cairo" becomes subject to quite a metamorphosis, too. What was already an album highlight is elevated further by Jonathan Kaspar, resident of Cologne's nightlife hotspot Gewölbe. His beat pulsates throughout the initially beatless track and masterfully connects the dots between Acid Pauli's floating loops, eventually finding its way to the foreground.

On its remixed version, MOD reemerges as an entirely new record, basking in all these diverse influences while firmly retaining the trailblazing lifeforce of its creator.

On remix duties we welcome two new gentlemen to our imprint that are definitely not new to the market. Hommage is the record label of Monkey Safari and Karl Friedrich. Founded in 2013, Hommage has been a platform for independent releases, with a focus on synergies between like-mined artists.

Hommage No. 25 is contributed to by Kieran Apter, the founder of Edinburgh’s renowned party Tweak, and Leon Power, a classical pianist and vocalist. The two Scotsmen met 5 years ago and are accustomed to collaborating.
Remixes come from label owner and musical genius Karl Friedrich himself & up-and-coming duo Avidus from Kiel, who also successfully curated the previous Hommage release.

‘Cleo’, the title track, impresses with it’s melodic deepness and an atmospheric bassline. Imagine the feeling of looking through your window into the grey winter scenerey, thinking of the last summer days and how you can hardly wait for spring. And then the impressive vocals begin!

‘Heads Or Tails’ is Kieran Apter's second collaboration - this time with Sandemann. The track is characterized by its mighty bass and could be played on the peak time of every night! This track is simply so pulsating and thrilling!

Avidus, the two friends from Kiel, chip in with two pervasive remixes of Cleo. Since their last EP, we know they're used to doing such lusty productions

Karl Friedrich joins the third soulful remix of this EP.

'An artist who continues to impress with a growing portfolio of high-calibre music, Hot TuneiK returns to Proton Music with the striking twin-track "Circles of You". Remixes come courtesy of Hungarian and Argentinean stars.

DJ, producer, promoter and record label owner, Hot TuneiK has found himself at the forefront of Mexico's underground dance scene. Unforgettable Hookah showcase events and a unique brand of deep and progressive house have seen regular appearances for the likes of Balkan Connection, Sound Avenue and Particles amount to almost 300 production credits. An April 2018 EP for Proton Music shone a spotlight on the Hot TuneiK name before remixes from Lanvary and Matter continued the "Revival". Now returning, the flowing melodic lines of "Circles of You" meander enticingly before a deep beat and rich percussion filter into range. Building majestically, a simple grooved arpeggio provides another rhythmic anchor before extending in range into the third movement. White-noise washes add to the overall character in an elegant work. Partner track, "Melancolia", opens with a deep and flowing rhythm that hypnotises with its muted melodic underpinning. Weaving a magical spell, cadenced arpeggios and freeform string and key motifs are sprinkled liberally across the upper frequencies to mesmerising effect before joining forces with the sumptuous rhythm in the second half.'

The first EP of 2020 will be in the name of the Italian Alberth (@official-alberth). With his productions he gains a lot of support and through 2019 he worked his way up. He provided three originals, with ‘Focus’ as title track, and the remix is coming from the Italian, Berlin based, duo The Ancient Memories (@the-ancient-memories).

The first track of the EP is called ‘Focus’. As the name already says the track is focused on one particular magical lead. This floating lead is accompanied by some in-the-face drums and atmospheric sounds, which all together created a really effective track.

‘Wanderlast’ is the second track of the EP, which is a beautiful one. Through the track more and more got revealed of the intriguing high pitched main synth. Even though the track is really atmospheric, Alberth managed to add a certain groove to the percussion.

The third track, ‘The Landing’, makes you feel like you are hovering somewhere high in the sky. The lead is drifting through the track and got strengthened by some balanced higher sounds.

The Ancient Memories gave ‘The Landing’ a little bit more power by adding some heavier synths to the floating lead of the original. Every time listening to this remix, you will discover something new, which makes this an impressive end to an impressive EP.

For his first EP of 2020, Brian Cid returns to his Endangered imprint with Be One; 4 powerful tracks flowing seamlessly between melodic techno & progressive house.

Last year saw Brian Cid continue the development of his Endangered label with the release of his Light In The Lotus EP, the signing of upcoming talent from all over the world, the launch of a new VA series, and label-branded events held everywhere from Brooklyn & Miami, to Canada, India, and The Dominican Republic.  After a recent EP on Audiofly’s Supernature label, and a remix on Fur Coat’s Odd:ity, Brian is back on his own creative outlet with Be One. 

“Monocerotis” is the first track on the release, and starts it off with a brooding techno vibe.  Multiple listens are required to decipher the brilliant layering of sounds weaving in & out, leading to a tension-building breakdown, and supported with a foundation of subtle tribal drums.  The journey continues on more of a progressive tip with the second track, “Cometas Y Cometas”.  As with all of Brian’s releases, a story is being told, and in this chapter the listener is made to feel like they’re floating to the next destination with the dreamy vibe created here.

Following is the title track “Be One”, which is the origin of the concept behind the project.  Brian explains: “After experiencing a deep travel in my worlds within, I became One. One with my energy & sounds. Vibrations. On this journey, we are taking a ride where the atmosphere opens up as broken sky, and the rhythms of the land breathe deep in your body. A healing shower of sounds with a live, analogue and digital feel; a sea of possibilities”. “Fill The Void” is the finale, and this story ends with a banger.  Driving melodic techno, combined with synth work bouncing back & forth; this is Brian Cid at his deepest & darkest.

Here Steve brings his touch for real deep house to this In My House EP - a firm statement of what you can expect from his much lauded DJ sets. The title track is a bumping yet slick piece of premium house, vibey and driving throughout. 
Bruneck - named after the northern Italian city Kelley holds a residency, is a touch harder - a more direct expression of late night abandon, with spine tingling moments thanks to judicious use of piano chords and sweeping effects.

It’s always great news when Steve Bug and Langenberg get together in the studio - two legends who remain at the top of their game, locking into each other’s groove and delivering some of the most potent electronic music out there. 
Their latest excursion is a case in point. 'Emphasizer' is a mid-paced groover with thick, rounded kicks, sharp percussion and a rich, deep bass that keeps things rolling along. Sparking synths add the spacy melodic flourish. 
'Thierry Moogler' is a slightly more urgent affair that builds from a slowly evolving synth riff before unfolding into a glorious, chugging house groover with an epically worked drop.

KOMPAKT welcomes back three dear friends – Copenhagen’s WhoMadeWho. Tomas Barfod’s penchant for electronic music poetically juxtaposed with Tomas Høffding and Jeppe Kjellberg’s respective backgrounds in rock and jazz, gives their music an electrifying combination of sounds, merging a variety of influences to produce a unique sonic fingerprint that is emotive, irresistible and immensely satisfying.

Though we both have yet to strike a note together since the release of their 2012 full length “Brighter” (KOM 254), WhoMadeWho have been remarkably productive. With two full lengths, a DJ mix for Watergate’s series and releasing two of 2019’s most played out club tracks together with Rampa (Innervisions) and Artbat (Watergate Records), the trio have found themselves diving more and more into the world of electronic music, tapping into their goldmine of connections within the scene to spearhead an array of collaborations.

The result is Synchronicity – a full length album to be released on November 13th.

The final chapter of our EP series is “Synchronicity III” – Kompakt’s fearless leader Michael Mayer joins forces with the trio to produce an outlandishly catchy house excursion. A throbbingly sexy groove twists around a nonsensically fun robo-disco vocal. Terr makes serious waves these days – from her exceptional releases on Phantasy, Correspondant, Permanent Vacation to released and operating own imprint Clash Lion they come up with “Falling Out” – an exclusive to this EP. This is the ultimate duet – her vocals harmonise with the band under flow with the perfect rhythm and beat of disco-fied refinement. Next up is Rebolledo – Mexico’s ambassador of dance floor devotion and one half of the legendary Pachanga Boys. A dear friend to the house of Kompakt. “Chaser” fuels those travellers of the night – a soundtrack for another dimension. Last but not least, fans will rejoice as Adana Twins return with a second collaboration together with the band. The clang of the cowbell is clear as a twisted guitar twangs to an ominous 4/4 rhythm.
