Tim Engelhardt - the wunderkind from Westerwald, who first came to attention at the age of 16 under the tutelage of Andreas Lindemann - spreads his wings on Poker Flat with a trio of highly cultured techno tracks. After an impressive stream of releases and remixes over the last few years, this is the sound of an artist attaining maturity.

'Everything Is All You Have' evokes early Orbital and the spaciousness of Basic Channel, as Engelhardt layers finely wrought and subtly blended musical elements. It's a magically hypnotic groove on headphones and speaker stacks alike.

The title track is accompanied by a brilliant SHOW-B remix, that comes in a slightly techier vein and strips down the original to add subtle beat layers and a punshier feel.

Last up, the ethereal 'Isa' marries deeper bass to snickering percussion before building to an intricately funky, contrapuntal riff. Nebulous clouds of ambient synth evoke visions of low mountains silhouetted by setting suns: testimony to the stunning local landscapes that have inspired Westerwald's other famous techno son, Dominik Eulberg.

Here, in collaboration with AUTM, the mighty wobbling bass of 'Soul In Arp' is paving the way for a high-definition motorik groo- ve that's simultaneously deadly deep and feather light. Glowing surges of synth add a sunrise feel before a massive crescendo heralds a taut, gritty climax.

Ambitious, accomplished and growing with every release, Engelhardt is surely destined for great things.

When I first explored the label called Controlla, I was both shocked and surprised, and couldn't imagine such a thing existed in the audio-visual universe. Some years passed, and while it turned out we're running a Mexican-music-outlet Ali X suddenly approached Complaint with crazy track ideas. Now we're talking.

"U 4 A DAY" laid in the drawer for some time and aged like beef tenderloin (thanks Ali for being so cool about it), the moment came to share with all of you. If you can identify the genre of the title song, I'll send a reward; analogish happyndie-house, which could be played both moving up or down the pitch fader, making it universal from a point of view.

"I Will (Nhar Remix)” by SITARA featuring Pawas is taken from the "I Will EP" co-produced by Pawas, with remixes by Alexander Robotnick, CYRK, and Nhar, set for release on 03 October 2025 on Hot Elephant Music.

SITARA makes her debut on Hot Elephant Music, the label run by Italo disco legend Alexander Robotnick, who also contributes a playful, synth-rich remix full of vintage charm. Berlin-based duo CYRK deliver a disco peak-time anthem of a remix, injecting sharp electro edges and a cosmic club punch, while French producer Nhar offers a lush, dreamy reinterpretation that expands the emotional scope of the original.

Michael Mayer, aka Mr. Lava Lava asked a bunch of his absolute favourite artists to have a go at some of the tracks from his recent album 'The Floor Is Lava'. First up is Barcelona's brightest flame, RAXON, who is melting 'Brainwave 2.0' into a stompin fun-filled primetime banger. Longtime collaborator DAVE DK is a masterful producer and remixer that appears regularly on Pampa and Kompakt. His take on 'The Solution' feels like a road trip to paradise and back. Montreal's PRIORI is one of the hottest names in showbiz right now. His ability to bridge genres and create pristine sound designs is fully on display in his remix for 'The Solution'. Last but not least, the legend that is SEBASTIAN MULLAERT took a moment off from his revered Circle Of Live jams to transform the albums deepest cut 'Ardor' into an extraordinary musical journey. Oldschool Border Community vibes in the rebound!

"You Make Me Feel" was the first outtake from Steve Bug's second Poker Flat album "Sensual". Slowly but unmistakebly building up a hypnotic groove with a rolling percussion loop, ice-cold snare and hollering vocal (reminiscent of Gainsbourg's "Bonny and Clyde"), Bug forces you flashing your sharpest dancing routines even before he throws in that distorted, take-no-prisoners, Saunderson-style organ-bassline. Flip over for another version that's served up straightened-out and stripped down yet still manages to come up with a higher percentage of FUNK. Another totally satisfying five star menu for the Poker Flat gourmet.

DJ Balaton continues to carve out his part in the puzzle with a fresh 4-tracker on LQL <3. With a nostalgic nod to Frankfurt, the producer shows that it doesn’t take much, just the right touch, to install a badass groove. Spacious arrangements and carefully placed synths turn the EP into an echo of a different time in the club.

The title track “Back To The Mood” orbits around that secret open-air energy - one of those full-circle cuts for the crew. You are missing the water, baby is all there is to say about “Flow Key”, rolling away at 127, disguised but with energy. “Reso 02” is the track we all wanted to finish but never did, grooving along with restrained intensity, shaping the EP into something personal and unique. Closing off, “Push Yourself” is Geoff White meets Herbert in a club-ready outfit.

Henry Rodrick - Into The Sun (1F001, Side A1)

Pedestrian’s dreamy tune “Hoyle Road” claims the historic second release slot on the legendary James Zabiela’s Born Electric imprint. Quite a newborn indeed, the label was conceived just under a year ago. With a dedicated weekly night at Space’s We Love… party in Ibiza last summer, the project has grown to do many big things since, including a Boiler Room takeover. That was actually Pedestrian’s second Boiler Room appearance.

Pedestrian, aka Jack Sibley, came of age musically in the realm of soulful drum-n-bass, with early acclaim from Giles Peterson on Radio 1 and DnB artist, Commix. But as you’ll hear in this clip, his style has branched far beyond the confines of any singular genre.

The Born Electric Facebook page proudly posted this about their upcoming second release:

First heard publicly closing out James Zabiela’s Boiler Room set, the then unfinished track caused quite a stir, with an untold amount of enquires as to who it was by and when it was getting a release.

We managed to keep this a secret until the time was right & now we can reveal all! Stay tuned for some pretty tasty remixes being announced throughout the coming weeks. Behold!
