“Tainted“ is much more darker, the story isn’t only sunny anymore. The synths promising no miracles, more a reflection of the time with all it’s effects, wild and surreal and a bit apocalyptic till the break is giving us a short release. We are not ending up with this mood.
“Solar Progression“ is bringing the lightness back with it’s easy melody and the playful elements. A musical sunrise, just to let ya start the new day with a smile.

London-based producer Cera Alba pairs up with vocalist Zahra for a pair of tough tracks on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax this June featuring a remix from Stockholm’s Tiger Stripes.

Since his humble beginnings several years ago the Newcastle-born artist has cemented a reputation for consistency, with releases appearing on the likes of Hot Creations, Moon Harbour, VIVa MUSiC,
Avotre, Madtech and Gruuv. As a DJ he’s been making regular appearances across Europe, including venues such as Watergate Berlin, Sankeys Ibiza, Brixton Academy London, not to mention festivals such as Hideout.

‘Taking Over Me’ is a dark and moody roller from the get-go. Robust drums and mesmerizing atmospherics form its basis whilst Zahra’s soulful vocals and a cavernous low-end rumbles throughout to its rhythm as a piercing vocal and metallic elements ebb in and out of the mix. Tiger Stripes then provides a crunchy remix of ‘Taking Over Me’, distorting Zahra’s vocals whilst incorporating tantalizing synths into his own stomping rendition.

Josh Butler - Dreamweaver 

Over the past five or six years Josh Butler (@joshbutler), the man from the North of England, has built an enviable career from his polished, slick house sound. Releases on stalwarts like Rejected and Hot Creations along with a residency at Sankeys Ibiza, speak to his quality, and this new release on Poker Flat continues his ascendant trajectory.

'Dreamweaver' is a four track EP stuffed full of powerful tracks destined to light up floors worldwide. The title track is a tough rolling house tune, with crisp, punchy drums and a hypotonic bass pulse. The narcotic vocal snippets place this deep into the late night selections.

'Through You' is also on the tougher side. A jacking beat kicks it off before some jazzy, chicago style stabs set the tone. Snippets of soulful vocals interwoven with a metallic, funky melody, bring the whole track into focus.

'Something' also contains a well chosen vocal, coupled with a taut groove that showcases Butler’s ear for space and dynamics. 'Movement' shares a similar aesthetic - Butler finding space amongst the various elements for the groove to work its magic - tech leaning house music for the summer nights.

Opening track Romeo revolves around a sparse, dramatic bassline and similarly sentimental synths, making for introspective flashes on the dancefloor.

On November we’re greeted by grand melodies with huge, spacious pads and monumental breakdowns, the perfect ingredients to spark up those emphatic, hands-in-the-sky type of moments.

Meanwhile, Monocloque flips the script and reveals ample pads in a spectral, dark sound palette, decked with ominous synths and looming resolutions.

Splatters of percussion and haphazard chords are key on Compass North, rounding up the release in a similarly lofty yet dance-provoking manner.

Tube & Berger have been a mainstay on Toolroom for many years. They’ve graced the label with remixes and original records, the most recent being the stunning ‘Birchen’ which landed as part of the ‘This Is Toolroom 2019’ album and their remix of ATFC’s ‘Strong 2 Survive’ which was another stellar outing from the German duo.

‘Guess Who’s Jack’ pounds along with trademark T&B drums, almost a garage-esque bass line rumbles away underneath and those dark spoken vocals add some tension and darkness to proceedings.
