It’s been a busy 2014 so far for label head Dubfire. Whilst nothing unusual for the Persian-born producer, with the revival of Deep Dish (alongside Sharam), the release of their new single 'Quincy', the continuation of the SCI+TEC radio show, the release of his much vaunted remix of 'Come' featuring Asia Argento and his relentless global touring schedule, it would be a surprise to find even a slither of studio time for original Dubfire productions…

But find he did and today he unveils EXIT, his new single and collaboration with the first lady of techno, Miss Kittin. The pair have wanted to work together for years now and after a few idea exchanges they managed to sink their teeth into something magical. The strong low-end Dubfire groove is evident once again on EXIT as the pair playfully chop and reverse Kittin's vocals, pushing and withdrawing the bass to allow her sultry vocals to shine. On the flip we're treated to the electrifying wall of sound that is MIDIAN with its all-enveloping bass, pierced by energizing and synapse-searing shocks.

Summer is slowly but surely coming to an end and the nights are getting longer again. What could be more fitting than an EP called Night Shades? Responsible for this is Berlin artist Jiggler, one half of former Bar 25 favourite Channel X. He has been causing a stir with his solo project for many years, including releases on Stil vor Talent and Katermukke. The first track, Night Shades, which shares its name with the EP, captivates with its driving groove and wonderfully dreamy yet uplifting lead synth. With the second original, Voyager, the journey through the night continues seamlessly, albeit in a more rousing and darker way. Jiggler is supported by a total of three artists with their own interpretations of the originals: Richard Elcox, the Scottish Berliner by choice, who was already playing around with his brother's Korg MS-20 at the age of 11 and the well-known Matija and Contenance here in Zurich. The former has been part of the local scene for over three decades, the latter is well on his way to emulating Matija.

Tonight, both crowds are heading to the presentation of Daniel Gardner's record. A cult album that was revived thanks to a fresh concept and a remaster. By evening, Jonny Knüppel was packed. Among the guests — a flamboyant duo that couldn't go unnoticed. Some swayed to rhythms that felt like old friends, while others — luckier ones, perhaps — were discovering an entire world for the first time. "You Make Me Feel" was the first outtake from Steve Bug's second Poker Flat album "Sensual". Slowly but unmistakebly building up a hypnotic groove with a rolling percussion loop, ice-cold snare and hollering vocal (reminiscent of Gainsbourg's "Bonny and Clyde"), Bug forces you flashing your sharpest dancing routines even before he throws in that distorted, take-no-prisoners, Saunderson-style organ-bassline. Flip over for another version that's served up straightened-out and stripped down yet still manages to come up with a higher percentage of FUNK. Another totally satisfying five star menu for the Poker Flat gourmet.

Poker Flat label boss Steve Bug connects with one of Spain’s most inspirational producers and DJs - Uner. The results, predictably, are dancefloor gold. 
Mantis on the Moon slips into its groove from the very start, an insistent beat matched with swingy percussion. The track takes its time but slowly builds into a Minimal / Deep Tech monster over the course of the seven and a half minutes. 
The Swiss pair Animal Trainer pick up the challenge with their remix - a shimmering, melodic rework with a huge drop take that will inspire some chaotic moments on many dancefloors.
