Entering NHS territories we have SHALT of London origin, Amsterdam-based, manager of his own fresh imprint REMADE and whose works have featured alongside Atrice; duo who have contributed to the NHS universe previously with their 'Accumulation Zone' EP. His offering and debut on the Label is a blistering set of transmogrified aspects of electro, techno, UK Funky and leftfield, UK-oriented bass into abrasive, molten-like tracks that play on the fault line of mechanical and natural through rigid, tight rhythm and granular, time stretched and downright sinister sonics.

Our artist reflects on the EP's title 'Mistral', it's namesake being reference to a wind path that runs through Southern Europe, acting as a folkloric and simultaneously scientific form of purification for the terrain that it flows through. The aural quality of the release, a pairing of rigidity and organic flowing freedom, is personified acutely through this with clear intention; audio sweeps and rumbles steadily, shifting into flutters and jitters, much like the haphazard elegancy of wind as it moves where it likes.

Equally, this sense of science and modernity that is evident through the use of digital technology is inadvertently juxtaposed against the ancient forms of geological understanding evident through folklore and druidry; SHALT feels they have used this as a means to invite the diminishing world of the ancients to cavort with the new world.

Sumac presents Marakame, a 7 track album available in digital and vinyl formats including remixes by Siete Catorce and Cassius Select. "Marakame" or “mara'akame" means "who knows" or "who sees" in Huichol, an indigenous language of Mexico. Marakame also refers to shamans, who are considered intermediaries between the human and spiritual worlds. Working with these themes, places and histories, Viiaan has crafted a series of tracks exploring memory, grieving and ritual.

After 5 standout releases, including debuts from many fresh faces to the left-of-field underground scene, Plasma Sources presents its inaugural compilation: Multi-Source. It brings together the current label family and a slew of other artists operating on the cutting- edge of dance floor electronics for a multi-genre, sound design heavy, wild ride. In turn, the label takes aim at establishing itself as one of the most exciting imprints in the experimental club scene.
From the 90BPM cinematic, Lorn-esque sludge of newcomer Guide’s ‘Gemological’ to the crisp staccato transients and negative space of Ziyiz’s ‘Plastic Sentiments’, each track adheres to one of the guiding principles that the label has employed so effectively to curate it’s platform, irrespective of tempo: a love for sci-fi aesthetics and a desire to transpose these into sonic equivalents.

Plasma Sources has always prided itself on delicately balancing dark and light, release to release. On Multi-Source, this broad spectrum is in full vision. Reinartz offers up dubbed- out, IDM-esque desolation on ‘Action Bias’, whilst Stolen Velour’s ‘Suigetsu’ brings a bright playfulness - high-pitched vocal cuts marry pulsating, organic beats which sound like if Untold’s Hemlock output got a 2024 facelift. Some tracks, like Prior Self’s brooding yet fidgety ‘Turn Out’ and Klahrk & Atrice’s flange-fuelled ‘You’ve Changed’ occupy the centre of this continuum with their takes on high-tempo techno-influenced mutations.

The full label family comes back to join in on the fun. HYPNA and NIQH team up on a collaboration which perfectly unites their sounds under a 4-bar bass-heavy roller laden with noise. NIQH offers up their own track, exploring crystalline club structures on ‘Pressure’. unearth’s cinematic, wasteland-ridden sound is in clear focus on ‘Safe Tread’ and Beton Brut’s signature grime-concrète comes through loud and clear on ‘WWW’.

Cortical offer up ‘Hammer’, a continuation of their relentless avant-techno manifesto established by their debut, whilst J-Shadow rounds things off with a space-age jungle- exploration on ‘X-38'.
The juxtaposition of dark and light. The delicate balancing of experimentalism and dance floor sensibilities. The interweaving of sci-fi and biologically-infused sound design. These are the key aesthetics with which Plasma Sources has approached its output ever since release no.1.
Multi-Source acts as a confirmation of this manifesto as it looks forward to 2025 and its future as a key player in the experimental club scene.
