I poured my heart and soul into this A/V mix over the past year. The project grew from being a simple mix to creating individual visuals for each track combining my own animations with the original music videos. With tracks spanning several decades and genres, it aims to showcase my wide-ranging, dynamic style while also remaining deeply personal with tracks and samples that nod to my DJ roots and history. From playing at New Cross house parties in the early 2000’s before expanding to the whole of London and further, growing and discovering different styles as I went. In some respects it’s my own humble homage to the energy and eclecticism of 2ManyDJs Radio Soulwax, covering 28 tracks in 1 hour.

It’s double or nothing with this sonic-boom-busting, minimal-breaks bruiser. You gonna boom, shake, shake, shake the room with Mr No Hands sub-laden reworking of the Poker Flat Recordings classic Chardronnet vs Afrilounge - Shake It. 

Now slightly less “minimal”, this overhaul was sampled from the original vinyl release. You can hear the crackles and pops caused by years of heavy rotation because it’s one of his all-time favourite tunes that's lived in his infamous Technics camo record box for over 15 years.

Southern California has long been a hotbed for artists in the electronic music scene who have shown off their dynamic abilities in the studio or behind the decks, and AMZEL is doing just that. This San Diegan has transitioned from her initial house and techno focus to layering in other unique styles to create magical moments on dancefloors at clubs, warehouse events, and more.

AMZEL hasn't just defined her DJing skills by utilizing CDJs, as unlike many other contemporaries, she's found a passion for spinning vinyl. This has allowed her to explore other sonic realms, ranging from jazz to new wave, while adding deeper cuts from her growing vinyl collection. That said, AMZEL stuns when she performs digital-driven sets as well, which she's put on display in recent months at venues throughout San Diego and during her Particle FM residency.
Having recently taken the stage at INCOGNITO, Veluda, and Obsidian's underground event in San Diego to deliver a dose of techno, electro, and more, it was fitting that we caught up with this blossoming talent. Road Trip (Tech House)

DJ / Producer / Musician / Remixer

London based DJ and producer Jimmy Hickmott aka Polar Bears Can Dance has amassed over 2 million plays online with his mixes, remixes and original tracks, as well as a number of impressive festival appearances under his belt, including Secret Garden Party, Shambala, Beat-Herder and is a regular mainstay year on year providing the soundtrack to hundreds of thousands of revellers at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland.

Making a name for himself playing Funk, Soul, Disco, and Afro plus everything in between, the DJ and producer’s eclectic approach has earned him critical validation from iDJ Magazine, Tatler and fellow DJs Greg Wilson, Shaka Loves You, Mr Switch, Dope Ammo and Mr Benn.

With a career spanning almost 2 decades, beginning at Student Unions and taking a bag of records to every student party going, he broke through by winning the Vestax National Student DJ of the year award in 2004. Since then he has developed his turntablism skills whilst maintaining spot on selections and always keeping the party rolling. Playing sets all over the UK, including securing residencies and gigs in some of London’s hottest night spots. 

A big fan of open format, through the decades, eclectic party sets - quick fire mixing The Cure with Beyonce into Justice, Blur then back to David Bowie mixed with Disclosure - finding a thread and weaving it together without making it feel disjointed. Jimmy really understands how to read the room, work the crowd and feel the vibe.

Ever evolving to move with the times, Jimmy is now incorporating live visuals whilst maintaining the essence of old school DJing, using vinyl decks and turntablism trickery, earning himself the reputation as provider of “awesome sounds and fun party vibes” - British Vogue.
