POLARITY’s style of alternative rock is one that the Toronto’s scene is quickly filling up venues like Lee’s Palace and The Horseshoe to hear. With their most recent Jukasa Live Off the Floor sessions the band wanted to capture the raw POLARITY experience, what you can expect to hear at a show no fancy production, no click just five individuals making sound waves in the moment and that’s exactly what they feel they’ve done with their most recent release. “Authenticity is key to connecting with an audience thirsty for meaning in their music” says vocalist Jasmine Virginia “We’ve never done anything conventionally so releasing these new songs live off the floor is something  that really allows us to showcase all the hard work we put into our live music because what you hear on these songs is what you’ll hear if you come to a show.”

They are not average independent band, they’ve thrived being DIY for over a decade playing hundreds of Canadian shows to growing audiences looking for a unique and soulful sonic experience. Since their formation in 2008 the band’s list of accomplishments includes four studio albums, working with grammy winning producers including David Bottrill and Joao Carvalho, Juno winning producers Darren Magierowski and Jill Zimmerman,  Canadian radio play on mainstream rock radio including Rebel 101.7, 97.7HTZ FM & 94.9The Rock FM & a youtube channel showing over half a million views. 

The music takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride where the landscape of sounds shift from harsh and aggressive to transcendental and ethereal in seamless seconds all while the vocals ooze with soul and range from vulnerable and honest to powerful and in demand. The band has recently welcomed Guitarist Sheldon Fernades to the mix who’s technical improvisational style easily fit into the bands unconventional sounds ‘I'm a big fan of small moments that make a big impact in songs, whether it's a cool rhythm, drum fill, riff, hook that makes the listener go, "what exactly happened there, let me go back and figure that rhythm or fill or lick out” says Sheldon, who adds much ear candy to the bands sound. 

“Great skills, fresh new outlook and overall positive energy helped to breathe new life into the band.” Says longtime guitarist Michael Sitana. “We've overcome a lot of challenges and we've learned from our mistakes.” Continues Sitana.

With a decade of musical friendship behind them the band is ready to unleash their next release, Live off the floor recordings of three new original songs written during the lockdowns accompanied recorded and filmed at Jukasa studio. The band worked again with longtime friend Juno winning producer Darren Magierowski who’s added to the mix of industry heavyweights who has shaped POLARITY’s sound. “POLARITY was an amazing group of people to work with and to take their musical vision to the next level was an honour for me.” Magierowski says of working with the band. Any band or music insider knows that being DIY for a decade is no small feat for a band but POLARITY is feeling stronger than ever and is poised to continue their ascent into the realm of well known Canadian bands in 2022!
