I've always liked the original version of this, which is the best song Jane Widelin never wrote. It has this breezy, slightly elusive J-Pop quality that sends me back to my teenhood watching anime on late night Channel 4. Emma recently uploaded a lyric video to Youtube and offered bonus points to anyone who'd cover it, so I thought I'd have a crack.

'Polar Rays' - Album Demo Reel

A song from the murky beginnings of Polar Rays. We never could play the damn thing properly, so it got shelved and forgotten. Now that I've been around the block a few times, I can see what was going wrong. It was in the wrong key for a start (It was originally in 'B'. Now it's in 'E' which gives you some idea of how off-base I was!) and song required the kind of heft that we just couldn't provide back in the day.

Now it's all dusted off and polished up. It was oddly cathartic, especially considering it deals with losing the past. Dedicated to all those I've grown apart from. Party hard, wherever you may be.

Formed from the ashes of Droitwich pop maestros 'Chevals'. 'Polar Rays' set out to create intense, dynamic pop music with every means at their disposal. They quickly expanded beyond their alternative roots to embrace colourful synthesizers, thumping beats and wild harmonies.

They are currently working on their self-titled debut album.
