From France comes Fabrizio Rat with a 4-track EP constructed entirely from acoustic piano and drum machine. Mr. Rat's unique sound design blew our ears away, particularly at a time when so much techno is more reliant on following a blueprint rather than trying to push the frontiers of what is possible, which to us was always the true raison d'être of techno.

Here's a little more info about Fabrizio - 

I'm a Pianist, composer and producer crossing musical genres, from techno to contemporary music, improvised music to electronica. I developed a personal sonic world on the acoustic piano transforming it into a synthesizer and a groove machine with DIY techniques and objects.

Pianist of Cabaret Contemporain (electro-bio) and Magnetic Ensemble playing festivals and venues throughout France and Europe, Canada and USA.

Other projects are La Machina (solo, with a prepared piano and a drum machine), Jukebox, Barber Mouse and Luna Maze. The first album of The Explosion, a new ambient trio with Gilb’R and Giani Caserotto, will be released on Versatile Records autumn 2015.

Four track 12" EP (and digital release) released on January 29th 2016. Distributed by Kompakt and Rub A Dub.

Utilising heavily the sounds of modular synths and home-built drum machines, Hormone Lemonade still keeps the loose, improvised sound familiar to fans of their first two albums, with minimal guitar melodies and live drum kit helping to build hypnotic layers of texture. An album that promises to be full of "experiments, improvisations, and refinements" and with Cavern at the controls, surely to be one of the year's best.

Seemingly drawing from a slightly different well of influence from that seen across their prolific back catalogue, the Aarhus duo – going by the less common shroud of Palta & Ti – have hereby woven together a stylistically varied yet tonally concentric 3 track EP. Having produced a wealth of some of the most lovingly referential and consistent music of recent times, the tracks making up “Palta og Ti på den Tolvte Ø” are slightly harder to pin down to exact genre markers. Each song is busy yet never overcrowded with elements; building concise and playful grooves which if forced we would say positions them somewhere in the ambient space between jazzy-improv-house and dubby, hypnotic electronics. That’s as absolute in adjectives as we would ever care to be...

Expertly crafted both technically and musically, we are more than excited to be able to present this to you as our fifth instalment.

In 2022 the Düsseldorf-native musician, producer, remixer and mastering engineer Stefan Betke looks back on a steady 25-year career in abstract electronic club music. In particular, the seven albums that he released during this period under the Pole moniker have lastingly shifted the coordinates of electronica.
