At the same time, the thirst for outstanding reporting is greater than ever. Starting from this challenge, Team 3 of our Collab set out to explore potential solutions and decided to run experiments with auto-summarisation of evergreen articles.

In this session, they share what they have learned and how you can implement their findings in your newsroom.

How might automated summaries help us increase discoverability & accessibility?

The AI + Automation Lab at German Public Broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk is a new team combining content and product, tackling algorithmic accountability reporting as well as automated news products. This session dives into projects and strategy behind them.

Product Manager Cécile Schneider shares her experience of working on products as text automations and regionalized Alexa skills and Team Lead Uli Köppen will share how she has put her learnings as Nieman Fellow at Harvard and MIT into action building interdisciplinary teams in the intersection of journalism and tech.
