The Australian landscape provides a surreal setting for its artists to create. Melbourne producer/DJ Luke McPherson, aka Jon Jones, is no exception to this as his ambient trance EP Warrandyte Bridge Reno guides listeners through Warrandyte’s bushland. As the first release for Southern Exposure Records, expect to hear more from him soon.

Luke gave up his time to answer a few questions about the EP and spin a few tracks together for the first instalment of our T-Rex Soundcast series. Here’s what Luke had to say about the mix:

“I selected a lot of tracks that I really, really like. I think touching on with that whole kind of nature thing, a lot of tracks really represent that. I think there’s a really good Japanese ambient track at the beginning of the mix leading into some upbeat, but not in your face, and still sharing that natural theme throughout the whole mix…”

Olivia is a DJ from and based in Heidelberg (DE), member of Breidenbach Label and co-founder of the feminist Zena Collective (@zenakollektiv). As a feminist collective their aim is to support womxn, trans* and non-binary in electronic music and club culture by creating a network and safe space. They’re organising different kind of events and a regular mix series on SoundCloud.

Olivia always varies between different genres like minimal, house, tech, break beat, electro and bass. This swirling vinyl only set is a mash up of some fresh break cuts & some all time favourites.
