This is a rework of mine and @mudaki live electroacoustic performance from Phonon event at 2018. We streamed a signal from piano and change sound in real time.
In this rework I transform recording samples, work more with sound and frequency and adding various instruments.

French composer Melaine Dalibert has before quoted Deleuze, referring to his own compositional practice as working on (and with) the behaviour or "space-time blocks". Here his philosophy unravels specific to the covid-19 pandemic; a beautifully spare and minimalist solo piano work, taking the form of a 20-minute long rallentendo which reflects the drop in tension that we are experiencing.

We also talked about why consumerism should be seen neither as an expression of sovereign public choice, nor as mere surrender to the manipulations of the advertising industry.

This exploration is based on a single sample of a prepared piano sound. You will here it at the very beginning. This was done live with a TC Electronic looper, Makenoise Morphagene and Instruo 1047 filter. Pitch changes are done by dialing in different cutoff resonant frequencies on the filter. Rhythm variations come from out of phase loops and also foreshortening of the sample. Panning from the Intellijel Planar 2 Enjoy!

Ravinder Kaur joins PTO to talk about her new book, 'Brand New Nation: Capitalist Dreams and Nationalist Designs in Twenty-First-Century India'. We spoke about how in both India, and around the world ethnonationalism in alliance with domestic and international capital seeks to rebrand entire nations as attractive investment opportunities. We talked about who and what is left out of the airbrushed picture of the branded nation, why it is that nationalism and capitalist globalisation are not antithetical as was commonly supposed in the 1990s, and we also talked about how India's democratic history and self-portrayal as open and convivial is used to favourably contrast India with China, even in the era of Hindu nationalism.
