Polychrome Audio co-founders Noord Loop are kicking off the Polychrome Radio mix series with an eclectic set that exhibits some of the duo’s main inspirations. A subtle mix of up and coming talents the label keeps tabs on and  well established artists they look up to. Expect a cosmic ride through various genres and tracks ranging from hypnotic Techno grooves to after hour tunes.

We have the pleasure of inviting up and coming Scottish talent Liam Binnie for this second instalment of Polychrome Radio. 

As co-founder of the Creeled collective and platform, Liam has started making a name for himself in the Amsterdam club scene as a party organizer, connector and formidable selector. He is also honing his craft as a skillful producer and we are looking forward to the projects he is working on. Definitely one to keep an eye on!

Above all, Liam is an incredible human being who lives and breathes music and we are more than excited to share this podcast of his.

Polychrome Radio - Episode 2 - Liam Binnie

This time, we are opening the floor to a great DJ and friend with whom we always share special moments in music. Would it be on a dancefloor of one of these parties we cherish, or on a B2B2B with two of our co-founders Noord Loop, Damien always has the right track to keep the flow going. Part of the Amsterdam's Shelter crew and affiliated to the Unsilenced Music collective, he is always present where the action and good music is.

It is this time under his BRAQUE alias that he recorded this podcast for our Polychrome Radio, sending us in a whirlwind of tunes floating between deep house and dub that we are really excited to share, as it has been on rotation since we received it.

With her debut EP on the way, who else than Council to take the driving sit of our Polychrome Radio series.

Council is not only a very gifted composer and producer, but also a DJ of exception, and she brilliantly showcased it here.

Navigating with ease and elegance between groovy house records and head spinning techno gems - mixing in some of her unreleased material - she opened up to us the doors to her own sonic universe. And it is worth the trip.

This podcast is simply at the image of her talent, impressive and captivating. Makes us wish for a dancefloor with Council in command.

Polychrome Radio - Episode 4 - Council

After a summer break, our radio is back online and for this fifth episode we invited QI M0N0. She is an artist whose creative and controlled writing and production skills very early on opened our desire to hear more. 

With releases for the exciting  Cape Town based label Kulture Lab - including her highlight track "No Boost - and shows on main Amsterdam independent radios, Marijn has started a great journey of her own. Studying music production while working for record store and distributor Zwart Goud, music is always present around her, and we can hear it.

Marijn gifted us with a very high level selection of harmonious yet adventurous, deep and trippy tracks. Describing it, she told us to expect "a mixture of space, dream, Detroit, techno, electro, old-school breaks, fast pace house". And that is what we got, perfectly balanced and mixed as we like them. 

QI M0N0 is an artist to really look-out for. For the time being, enjoy this great podcast!

After a small hiatus, Polychrome Radio returns to offer the stage to not only a great DJ but also to one of the silent architects of Amsterdam's cultural scene. Pieter de Beaufort impressive work ethic, open mindedness and sharp eye for talent has been instrumental in the recent very active music programming of Oost's multidisciplinary and unique venue, Studio/K. 

As the space's cultural programmer, Pieter has been involved with several local and international projects. Some highlights from the past year include multidisciplinary showcases with Immaterial.Archives and Violazioni Sonore. He also co-organized Sapodilla; an event that explored the origins of house and techno music and its fundamental relation to black and black queer identity and activism through a documentary screening, a panel talk and a subsequent club night at Garage Noord. On top of this, he is currently working on an international collaborative project focused on the intersection between technology, visual art, and music, creating multidisciplinary events throughout Europe that include audiovisual performances, club nights, workshops, and exhibitions.

About the podcast, he expressed "the wish to explore multiple sounds within the realms of ambient, deep techno, and leftfield d&b. I stayed close to my sound by sticking to the eerie atmospheres and multi-deck layers of hypnotic rhythms that form an integral part of my sets. Throughout the set, you’ll find a steady amount of groove at its foundation."

This recording is a very deep voyage into the realms of deeper techno. We felt that groove as much as we felt the unique energy that Pieter has. The energy of the passion for carefully curated music and art. Enjoy !

Throughout summer we’ve had several moments of joy, but we wanted to make sure we wrapped it up with something special. The final event of the season was our traditional open air gathering organized with the guys from nite vibes. This year, at a completely new location. 

Situated in the forest of the outskirts of Prague, the party exceeded the exceptations. Right after Shoal’s live set, @n-c-o-l stepped in with a set that was beyond ecstatic.

It’s hard to find the right words to describe what her sounds transmitted to the crowd, so we made sure to capture it instead. 

Take a glimpse yourself & dig into an hour and a half of sweaty & muddy techno that will take you back to the foggy air as the sun was rising.

Hitting the scene hard in 2016 with his debut 4-tracker for Rotterdam’s Common Thread Records, Identified Patient’s sonic personality was born through downtempo saturation, club/wave fusion, and fuzzy acid. It comes as no surprise that his influences reach as far and wide as they do; Identified Patient is one of the rare artists whose sound can be recognised immediately, leading him to being very highly in-demand on the international market.

On June 23, 2022, Revier Südost and Gravity Network invited Bloomfeld, Chloe Lula, DVS1, Katty Lange and Nicky Böhm to gather for a panel discussion titled Techno Capitalism & Instagram Economy, to deconstruct the title loaded with many positive and negative connotations, and to unpack some of the topics and issues associated with business side of electronic music industry. What went down was a lively conversation on the notorious business techno, on straddling the middle between the underground and the mainstream, artist visibility and the role of photography, today’s relevance of DJ mixes and much, much more.

For entry number 10 in the PPRZ Podcast series, we have a mix from New York's @threehz

threehz is an explorer of textural, dream-like emotion. With sets ranging from sludgy dark psychedelia to kaleidoscopic warpdrive techno, threehz is a rising tripped-out player throughout New York City’s techno dance floors. 

His namesake is an inaudible but mystical frequency associated with theta waves, dreams, meditative states, and divination - a frequency allegedly imbued with brutal physical power that could topple speaker stacks if they were only capable of reproducing and amplifying 3Hz. With a deep grounding in musical esoterica and a previous life in metal music - most recently as part of celebrated avant-metal outfit Sannhet – threehz is a full-bore sonic experimentalist. 

threehz’ DJ career has been on a long arc, launching in earnest with an exploratory, cross-genre show on The Lot Radio with friend and Sannhet bandmate AJ XO. The pair’s collaborative work, titled NO DAWN, has been in rotation on The Lot for seven years, and has yielded expansive joint sets at recent editions of the Shaker Mountain festival. 

His deep and psychedelic techno series “dream/self” at Queens mainstay Mansions has showcased him alongside other like-minded techno experimentalists, and he has made regular appearances at the venerable Bossa Nova Civic Club. threehz’s continued passion for distilling and blending psychedelic sounds has yielded focused and deep dives into techno for densely foggy dancefloors and pulsing colors – a place threehz himself is likely to be found at the blurry morning hours.

threehz describes their mix as “This winter has felt very long and dark for a lot of people, myself included.  A lot of difficult energy has been in the air, but finally in the past week or two it feels like spring is trying to break through the darkness – literally and figuratively.  I think this mix reflects that – starting in a darker, confusing space and eventually working itself to a place with a glimpse of hope. It’s a bit darker than what I’ve been playing lately, but I think it is true to both my roots and my more recent focus.  Selection wise, I tried to pull from classic 90’s material through brand new releases, and I tried to work in a third deck a bit more than usual for some tripped out layered bits. I hope you enjoy the journey!”
