Legendary Irish producer @o-utlier puts forth a mind-bending array of leftfield techno in its purest state for his Animalia EP, Biome. Known for otherworldly soundscaping that threads through his productions, live-act and DJ sets, o.utlier’s expansive style draws on motifs like atmospheric drone, atypical percussion and mesmerising field recordings. He continues hypnotising with Biome - from the glimmers of acid and kicks in ‘Ionic’ to the winding brood of ‘Crop Rotation’. Deep and evocative, this release epitomises what I’ve long admired about o.utlier’s work - a level of craft guaranteed to blow and broaden the sonic imagination.

Pure Space presents Cell, the latest EP from Eora (Sydney)-based artist Pannotia - a producer sculpting intricate sonic ecosystems through dense, evolving synthesis. Inspired by microbiological processes, Cell pulses with organic mutation, where rhythm and texture shift like an evolving biocrust.

Written between Gadigal Land (Petersham) and London (2023–2025), the EP reflects a deep fascination with unseen worlds - microbial communities thriving in extreme conditions, reacting to their environments in ways both alien and familiar.

Across four tracks, Pannotia explores a spectrum of tempos and moods, from the swampy and viscous to the clinical and mechanical. The EP opens with the title track Cell, a dense and hypnotic techno cut whose constantly evolving nature keeps you locked in. Life Cycle follows, a track driven by grinding lead synths and steady percussion that propels forward with restless motion. Biozone takes a more organic approach, mirroring ecological systems in constant flux.

Closing out the EP, Tessellate emerges as a doof-ready anthem, featuring the voice of Cyano in her musical debut - delivering a spoken exploration of microscopic landscapes. For good measure, a Dub Mix strips things back while maintaining the energy.

A contemporary snapshot of Pannotia’s sonic evolution, Cell is a dark, trippy, and ever-shifting ecosystem; alive with movement, modulation, and mutation.

Lens of Time’ builds its pulse from unconventional percussive patterns, weaving together organic textures with GiGi FM’s ethereal vocals. As she explains, “We drew on traditional Thai instruments from the studio, blending them with live recordings of my voice—both for singing and percussive elements. Poetry added another layer, grounding the track with an emotional, almost narrative dimension.”

As GiGi FM reflects, “Our work together became about tapping into something much bigger than ourselves—this grand, cosmic interconnectedness. Time, for us, wasn’t linear—it felt collective and expansive, a thread connecting our experiences, traumas, and creative visions.”

Priori’s hit EP Pareidolia gets a well deserved remix treatment. The relation between Priori and Midgar started early 2023 with the release of his Pareidolia EP, where a remix for Keplrr followed quickly the year after. Now, early 2025, a group of close friends and admired artists were invited to rework the Pareidolia’s originals.

Midgar affiliate Forest Drive West uses the opportunity to present not one but two remixes. Presenting one half-time 85 bpm twist of Hazard and another slow-paced murky techno groover. Originally from Montreal, Maara forms the Canadian connection and she turns Memory Palace into a beautiful bouncy dub-techno floater. Sound experimentalist Notte Infinita takes his turn on Pareidolia’s title track and creates some magnificent eyes-closed drum & bass hypnotism. At last, Amsterdam’s upsammy brings back the light with her iconic playful approach. She flips the steady groove of Glass Shards into a jumpy interplay of rhythms and joy.

With 'Mica', Illinois-based artist @zvrra delivers a kaleidoscopic EP that pushes the boundaries of genre and form. Drawing from techno, breakbeat, ambient, and electronica, Zvrra weaves a sonic tapestry that is as intricate as it is imaginative.
Opening with ‚Butterfly‘, the listener is welcomed by a layered interplay of breakbeat rhythm and glistening synths which create a compelling contrast between motion and serenity. The top melody gently flutters, adding a soft emotional tone to the driving groove. The path continues through ‚Wooden Rain‘, where Organic percussion patterns tumble over each other like raindrops on dry wood. The tribal rhythms create a hypnotic momentum that feels both primal and futuristic. Melodies breeze through the third track ‚Prairie Scrub‘ which feel like gusts across a glowing plain. It’s playful and dynamic, evoking the wild beauty of a sun-drenched landscape. Closing with ‚Golden Beetle‘, Zvrra zooms in to a microcosmic world where they lead the listeners on an ambient exploration of chirping tones and looping rhythms, like observing little insects in the act of something strange and sacred.
