A couple of years ago, the folks at Global Sound Movement (GSM) at UCLAN invited us to try out some of the instrument samples and loops that they had recorded on field trips in Uganda. Our interest was piqued by the sound of the Adungu - a multi-stringed instrument found in north-western Uganda. We 'derived' a melodic sequence from the patterns and 'framed' the Adungu with similar pentatonic motifs on an acoustic guitar. Of course, to keep up the global groove concept, we needed to add some four to the floor dance beats contrasted with a traditional Seed Caxixi, and a few African style voices singing in close harmony!
