Episode 63 – Return of the chats!

Hi Pomcats! Autumn is in full swing for many of us, what are your knitting plans this season? Well, what better way to get inspired than to cosy up with our latest episode and enjoy our chat with authors Kiyomi and Sachiko Burgin.

We wanted to hear all about their recent Pom Pom Press publication, Moon and Turtle! This collaborative project between the twin sisters infuses unique and contemporary design details with classic knitwear styles, and features lots of easy instructions to make a custom fit. We also chat about what it was like producing a book during the pandemic, the process of working together and the important meaning behind the book's title.

Of course Lydia and Sophie had to have a chat about what projects would find their way onto their needles next! We give a shout out to the Pokapoka hat and the Zenar socks. Episode 64 – Kiyomi and Sachiko Burgin

So, what have we been up to? Sophie took Lydia’s recommendation from episode 63 and made the trip to see Paula Rego at Tate Britain, what a moving exhibition! The pals also discuss their ideas for starting a repair cafe and are looking for advice, have any listeners taken part in something like this?

We’re also marking our calendars for the pre-order release of Interpretations Volume 8, which will be on 9th November! We were very excited to have received the delivery of this beautiful publication at the UK studio recently. Behind the scenes we’re getting Issue 39 ready to land on doormats and in post boxes around the world, and Sophie has made a start on the crochet cardi Rockmore! She could be playing yarn chicken with this one, but is in love with this intuitive stitch pattern.

Episode 67 – What we do in the stitches!

Hi Pomcasts, welcome to the penultimate episode of the year! We’re delighted to be joined by guest interviewer Belinda Johnson, a fellow member of the Pom Pom team who had a chat with sound artist Sam Topley.

Before we got to the interview, it was only right that we had a chat with Belinda and introduced her to you lovely listeners. As well as finding out a little more about her role at Pom Pom and her journey through the world of knitting, Belinda mused on the patterns that are currently gracing her needles. These included the currently hibernating Eirys from Ready Set Raglan (just awaiting that final ball of De Rerum Natura Gilliatt!), plus Grainne, which is also from Ready Set Raglan, the delightfully named ‘project cookie monster’! Belinda also lamented the currently frogged Trembita mittens she was working on, but confirms that the pattern is so easy that she’ll be restarting these very soon.

It was music to our ears to find out that Sam Topley was going to be a guest on the pomcast! Sam is a sound artist and researcher working with textiles to create handmade electronic musical instruments and interactive sound art work. Her collaborative projects explore ideas in craftivism, using DIY fibre crafting to engage new audiences with experimental music making. Thanks Sam!

Episode 70 – Lydia Morrow

Hey Pomcats! We’re springing into the first ‘armchair chat’ of the year - a new working title for the Sophie and Lydia episodes!
