Hauschka - Agdam

In a year when movement was restricted as never before, two musicians whose travels have been their life-blood, managed to get together to make an intense and intimate record Still Moving. Justin Adams, whose post-punk approach has been enriched by a passion for Arabic and African trance/blues, and Mauro Durante, a visionary inheritor of the Taranta roots of his native Puglia recorded live in the studio, without over-dubs. Together they found what was essential in their common sound, reaching into tradition from Italy (folk songs like Damme Nu Ricciu, classics like Amara Terra Mia) and America (Little Moses, the Carter Family classic). Original songs , like Dark Road Down find common ground between the wild pizzica rhythm of Southern Italy and trance boogie, while Djinn Pulse goes from serene instrumental minimalism to hypnotic catharsis. The title song Still Moving evokes Mediterranean migrations
as Odyssean trial with ancient frame drum, and raw electric guitar providing a starkly beautiful landscape

Llwynog means Fox. Away from his home he kills best. It references Gyrn Wigau, which is a summit amongst the Carenddau. The fox stands still at the foot of this mountain, he's escaped the shot of the farmer's gun and is much faster than the farmer's dog.

Tincian is 9Bach's second album. It's an atmospheric, emotional record that reflects their home environment of Gerlan, North Wales. As Lisa Jen explains, 'tincian can mean a lot of things, to move with a tinkling sound, to ring and make a clear sound. Depending on what area of Wales you are from, the meaning varies. It comes to life in dialogue when you use sentences like "I gave him such a talking to, he didn't know what had hit him...he was 'tincian'." It's almost like a cartoon image of someone's head being hit by a hammer'.

This is what it might have sounded like had Jimi survived to play with Miles Davis during Miles' Tutu/Amandla period (1986). For the first time Miles could embrace synthesizers, sequencing, and drum machines. No doubt Jimi would have too. Add to that a producer who could play bass every bit as well as he could produce, Marcus Miller, and you have a recipe for some awesome music.
On this track I play guitars and sequence Miles trumpet. I am ably assisted by the immensely talented Steve Shone https://soundcloud.com/palmgrease on bass. Don't miss his bass solo at 3 minutes in, Marcus would be proud!
