Martyrs was an on and off again project of mine and my old friend Terry Driescher whom I met when I joined the Dub Factor. We both shared a passion for heavy Dub, Hip Hop, Down Tempo, Reggae....you name it, and always chased a sound that was very bass heavy, full of dub and funky drums. Terry had a mini studio in his mom's house which was his old bedroom, and we would setup my drums and record break beats for hours. Terry would then sample what he needed, then use my beats and arrange them into songs. This album was the result of those sessions and we released it on Cassette sometime in 1996. We did create a live version of this band that was short lived but incredible that included members from Swift and Suite No. 3, two of Arizona's Acid Jazz/Hip Hop crews in Arizona at the time. In the near future, this album would be introduced to Coppé, a Japanese electronica artist living in Tempe Arizona at the time and would lay the foundation for O of M, OTO and Coppé's future recordings.

Martyrs Golden dubShine

Still trying to re-assemble this crew post "Roam" era and a brief era with DJ Z-Trip, we finally landed a solid lineup and made another run. It started with adding Michael Cornelius on bass, most famous for being the original bassist for J.F.A. (Jody Fosters Army), a very popular Arizona band famous for one of the OG's of the Skate Punk genre. With the core musicians in place, we added Mr. Puma M.C. introduced through DJ Z-Trip and found two amazing vocalists, Mia and Yanna. I lost track of Mia and Yanna, but I heard Mia went on to become an MTV karaoke champion. We played some big shows, mostly at Gibson's and Hayden Square in Tempe but our biggest show was performing with Reba Mcentire and other big country stars at the Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl XXX party in 1996 at The Buttes in Tempe, Arizona.
