Gibson Gonnie, Diné (Navajo), describing the Four Sacred Mountains and Rivers of the Diné, and their meanings.

     The Rio Grande River. That’s the river to the east. What Navajos say about it or what the ancestors had said about it is they represent the bow. So I guess to the east you would look at it like the lightning bow. And to the south is the lightning bolt bow. And to the west is the lightning, and then to the north is the lightning bolt. So you actually have bows that surrounds us. 
Like I said, to the east is the Rio Grande. Then to the south is the Little Colorado River. Then to the west is the Colorado River. Then to the north is the San Juan River. So those are the rivers that we have, and they all represent as bows. 
If a Navajo, if you know the stories and if you know the tradition, if you’re going to go over the river to the other side, you have to say a prayer to get to the other side and then go about your way. So going outside the Four Sacred Mountains, that’s what we do. Because it’s unknown. Within the Four Sacred Mountain, you’re protected. If you leave the Four Sacred Mountain, you have to have something with you to travel that distance.
Once we leave the Four Sacred Mountains, we don’t know where the road will lead us to. The four mountains, we always start with the sacred mountain to the east, Mount Blanca in Alamosa. In Navajo we call it Tsisnaasjini'. Then the sacred mountain to the south is Tsoodzil, Mount Taylor at Grants. It looks bigger, because it’s kind of flattened out. That’s why it’s called Tsoodzil, Big Mountain. 
Then the sacred mountain to the west, San Francisco Peak, Mount Humphrey in Flagstaff.  In the Navajo we call it Doko'oosliid. What that means is Doko'oos, it’s like clouds that comes out of the mountain that looks like a smoke. So that’s what that means, Doko'oosliid. The sacred mountain to the north, which is in Durango, Colorado, Mount Hesperus. We call that one Dibé Nitsaa, where the mountain sheep dwells. 
Those are the Four Sacred Mountains.

DJ Ponna: A Rising Star in Mexico’s Music Scene

DJ Ponna is a Mexican DJ and producer who has been making waves in the country’s music scene for several years now. With a background in engineering studies in audio and disc jockeying from G Martell in CDMX, he has been able to hone his skills and create a unique sound that sets him apart from other DJs.

Since graduating from G Martell, DJ Ponna has played at several venues in Mexico, sharing the stage with renowned artists such as Instituto Mexicano del Sonido, Nortec Hiperboreal, Isaac Maya, Triciclo Circus Band, Martin Parra, and DJ Falzo. He has also played at various festivals such as the Circonvencion Mexicana festival, where he wowed the crowd with his electrifying performance.

DJ Ponna’s rise to fame can be attributed to his unique style, which incorporates a mix of retro sounds such as funk and electro swing with more contemporary genres like trance and psy-trance. This has allowed him to appeal to a diverse audience, from those who love old-school music to those who prefer the latest beats.

One of DJ Ponna’s most notable accomplishments has been his residency on the Funkalicious radio program of Euforia.mx, where he showcases his love for retro sounds. The program has been a huge success, reaching listeners from all over Mexico and beyond. With the Guayabeats program, also from Euforia.mx, DJ Ponna has been able to reach the top of the Electro Swing and Electronic charts, as well as the Psy Trance style on mixcloud.com.

Aside from his impressive track record as a DJ, DJ Ponna is also making a name for himself as a producer. His first EP, Astral Worlds, was recently released on his own record label, Advance Tech Records. The EP showcases DJ Ponna’s talent for creating unique and otherworldly sounds that transport listeners to another dimension.

DJ Ponna’s success can be attributed not only to his talent but also to his dedication and hard work. He has been able to establish himself as a respected DJ and producer in Mexico’s music scene through his consistent performances and quality releases.
