Usually, I ask my singers to stay as close as possible to the original when I consider this latter as the definitive version. I find absurd all of those who claim they have "made the song their own" because they have changed a few notes, altered the melody or distorted the beat... But on this song, I found Adele's interpretation pretty bland. So I rewrote all the interpretation scheme of the song, playing on the plosive consonants, the off-beat starts, the sprechgesang, the volume variations, etc, to convey the numerous changes of mood and the overall torment the character of the song is going through. And Sabrina, with her uncommon artistic intelligence, integrated all this and delivered for us this chiselled, subtle, polished, brilliant version...

Her cover of "My Immortal" is special to me because it's the last one she released under my tutelage, just before moving from Perth, Australia, to Los Angeles; but also because in my opinion, it is her all time best achievement.
