Is it problematic if your top listeners are former partners, band mates, (or their significant others) who have blocked you or unfollowed you on social media, who continue to talk junk about you to whoever will listen, and then who also get loose on the reg, late night and plunder through your demo tracks on SoundCloud? Feels like an intentional violation given that I don’t interact with or visit their pages, or run character assassination campaigns about them to other musicians, but I am more than happy to send they and their partners the data so they can figure out why I’m still a focus point being used to deflect from their own relational responsibilities.

Waiver_3_23_24_EP ROUGH MIX

Purposing a waterfall release model, “Glistening the Screws” will drop on June 21, 2024 on Bandcamp and all major distribution and streaming sites. It’s the last track and first single from the upcoming album, Present By Omission, slated for release from WEAREBISON in 2025. A full production music video will follow later this summer. A second single, Slow Figures, and music video from the new album will also drop later this fall. “Glistening the Screws” is a dreamy, synth-infused pop narrative about struggling with Summer depression.

Ponybird is the moniker for the alt-folk singer-songwriter Jennifer Dauphinais, who also produces electronic psych music as the project called WEAREBISON. Dauphinais plays regionally as both an acoustic singer-songwriter and experimental electronic artist, drawing from a fifteen-year catalog of original work. Dauphinais has also toured as a drummer and vocalist for songwriters Brian Ember, Stephen Peter Rodgers, & Jillian Matundan. They were the drummer and vocalist for the folk duo the Karner Blues, the blues-rock trio, Belle Starr,  the reunion of early 80s punk trio, Editors, and in the band Spider & Fly. 

As a two part EP collection, The Deep Meats EP series diverges from the well-known alternative folk style of prior recordings, and enters new sounds to their evolving songwriting style through influences of psych pop, post punk, and dark wave. All songs are Written, Performed, Produced & Recorded by female producer Jennifer Dauphinais, and Mixed by Ponybird at Granite Coast Studio, Guilford, CT. Deep Meats I was listed among the Top Five Albums to check out in 2022 by Connecticut Magazine, while Brian Slattery of the Independent said, “Throughout, Dauphinais has never sounded more assured, relaxed, and focused at the same time”.
