Two Sides

‘I Write’ is the first single from Surrey native Luke Barham aka Uncle Luc. The songs from his debut album were conceived in a Hollywood garage over the Christmas period and hark back to a time when pop music was grand, something he likes to call “baroque and roll” On returning to the UK, Luke met Finnish producer Henri Växby  whose family one by one joined the recording sessions eventually becoming his backing band. Taking hints from Surrey hometown hero Nick Lowe, his songs are loaded with rich melody and vivid story telling.

2014 has been a busy year for Uncle Luc which saw him release a debut album, direct a short film, start a record label and play countless shows up and down the country(and beyond!) all within a year of his previous band 'Stagecoach' splitting up. Radio support came from Huw Stephens (Radio 1) Dermot O'Leary (Radio 2) and John Kennedy (XFM) and Luc shared a stage with the likes of Laura Viers and Luke Sital Singh. Not bad all inside eleven months! 

'Christmas 1994' recalls festive seasons of yesteryear referencing Home Alone, his first guitar and Tasmin Archer’s Sleeping Satellite along the way. The song features the pedal steel talents of UK Country legend BJ Cole (Elton John, First Aid Kit, Beck, Bjork)On the flipside is coming of age tale 'Ice Cream' a moody slice of powerpop recalling the sound of Rockpile and George Harrison.

Luke will be playing two final shows this year. Catch him performing the new single alongside songs from his debut album 'HUMBLEBRAG'
