This week's Spin City Show that aired on 9th May 2021 on myhouseradio.fm saw the 2nd week of our Disco Walton takeover. Up this week saw the return of my boogie brother Ste Hendry aka @esteban2907 laying it down good and proper for the first hour with some impecable selections, and mixing to boot. It’s Funkier Radio’s second birthday! Hard to believe it’s two years since I started this little show, and I’m still loving the opportunity to spread a little musical happiness every 2 weeks. Hour 1 is standard Funkier Radio fare, with a few promos and new bits, some dusty old oddities, edits, reworks, some Parliament and the odd dodgy blend. I finish my hour with a divine Marvin Gaye track that I can’t believe I’ve never played on the show before. 
 
Hour 2 is all about my bearded Bradford brother Iry Sabir. Iry’s a regular in the radio show chatrooms that music addicts like me hang out in, and he’s not only a top bloke, but a top DJ too. Iry’s put together a real treat of a mix - an all vinyl extravaganza of smooth, sweet soulful house grooves.

This week’s special guest is Moogy Bee (aka Vlad Galaiko), a DJ and Producer from Russia who is one of the talents behind Deponiente Records, a label that has been releasing quality disco boogie tracks since 2016. He was ranked #62 in last year’s Traxsource Artists charts for Nu-Disco. 

“Assassin, looter, seamstress, dj, samples thief, I copy your ideas, I twist the knobs, I collect synths, I accumulate vinyls, I love funk, I love disco music, together with loops” 

And here are the origins of Moogy Bee and his awesome music…..

The story takes place in the city of Kiev, after a few years plagued with problems with justice and a brief passage through the jail for its relationship with the local mafias. Vlad begins in the local scene of the mid-90s, well known for its dynamism at that moment. The music scene was really exciting, it was surrounded by great DJs, influential record stores and distributors and massive clubs, and the director and the actors were connected to cities like Moscow, Tokyo, Paris, Berlin, New York or San Francisco.

Undoubtedly, for young people like Vlad, attracted by the art of DJing, the scene offered many opportunities.Private parties and concerts in small clubs began to happen regularly, and Vlad began to be known in the Kiev scene for his art in the mixes and the strength of his staging, master in the art of Turntablism his style is refined and the Break Beat and Techno House, in his sets begins to incorporate old sounds: Boogie Disco, Electro-Funk, Italo-Disco and other styles of the 70's this transforms your DJ sets into a sort of musical gangster worthy of the Playboy Mansion
