After coming off the release of 'Perestroika,' one of last year’s best collaborative LP’s alongside the legendary O.C., underground rap stalwart Apathy returns with a vengeance with the debut leak, “Alien Weaponry,” which serves as the debut leak off his long awaited sixth solo LP, 'The Widow’s Son.'

The CT native is straight-up coming for the head of anyone who’s ever doubted him on the Nottz produced banger. Throughout the track, we’re treated to one bravado-laden gem after another, including lines like: “You outgunned/ Outshined/ Must be out your mind/ Raps is putrid/ Ap is stupid/ Slap the fluid out your spine.” 

The snarling banger also boasts crazy pop-culture references that seamlessly fit into the overarching theme of “If you thought Ap was going to hang it up soon, you’ve clearly lost your damn mind.” So whether he’s referencing Stranger Things, Opio (of Souls of Mischief), or Freddy Krueger, you damn-well better be taking him seriously. 

After all, Ap is clever enough to include a slick Organized Konfusion reference on this track while having a member of the legendary duo (Pharoahe Monch) appear on his upcoming masterpiece. 'The Widow’s Son' is also set to feature Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Buckwild, M.O.P., Celph Titled, and more.

There’s a science to Alchemist & Evidence naming themselves Stepbrothers, as the two literally grew up together, and along with a storied friendship, the two have also been sharing their musical collaborations with the world for over 20 years now. But, their joint Hip Hop efforts date back even further than that. That said, after decades of their ongoing collaborations, the two have indeed long found a chemistry, which can be witnessed in their first full-length project, the Step Brothers’ Lord Steppington from 2014. 

In promoting Lord Steppington, Alchemist and Ev shared stories about the recording process for the album, and those stories reveal the relaxed and natural element that brought these songs to life. As one might expect, in such a fertile ground for creativity there’s bound to be some additional treats laying around that don’t make the official album. Recorded during the same sessions as the album back in 2014, “Lay Some Treats On Us” is one such case.
