Following hot on the heels of his acclaimed 2nd album 'Solar Nights' German producer Tim Bernhardt, AKA Satin Jackets, returns to bring some much needed warmth to the winter with the release of the 'Golden Cage' EP. Featuring three brand new instrumental tracks, the 'Golden Cage' EP sees Bernhardt venture into more introspective territory, eschewing the more upfront pop direction of recent collaboration with Panama, 'Electric Blue', for something softer and more intimate. 

'Meridian Gateway' delivers the kind of optimistic yet wistful melodies that Bernhardt has time and time again shown himself to be a master of. Built around a series of poignant piano notes the track gently unfolds and reveals itself, shimmering like the first frost of the year catching the morning's rays.

Whilst 'Solar Nights' showcased Bernhardt's skill at crafting thoughtful left field pop music and coaxing the best out of lyricists and singers alike, the 'Golden Cage' EP reveals he's still a dab hand when it comes to crafting dreamlike nu-disco, as warming as a mug of glühwein in midwinter.

Whilst 2020 has seen nu-disco star Tim Bernhardt AKA Satin Jackets return to his roots, releasing an EP of equally chilled- and blissed-out instrumental cuts, fans of the vocal collaborations that marked the German producer's last album are well catered for with 'Think About It', a brand new single that nods towards a poppier direction and wouldn't sound out of place on last year's 'Solar Nights' LP.

Recorded earlier this year in the legendary Hansa Studios in Berlin, famous for having hosted the likes of David Bowie, Depeche Mode and Falco in the 70s and 80s, the storied building's atmosphere, an inspiration to songwriters and musicians for decades, quickly worked its magic on Tim.

"I was in Berlin for a few days to meet and work with songwriters from around the world, and really it's not hard to be motivated when you're in a place with a history like Hansa." He explains. "It's like it has this aura from all the great records that have been recorded there over the years, it left us in awe and was very inspiring. Anyway time to do some proper disco I thought and so that's what we did."

And "proper disco" is exactly what we've got here. A beat that will kick your feet into gear, a bass line to engage your hips, guitars, pianos and strings all coming together to deliver the kind of sun kissed melodies Satin Jackets fans know and love and then to top it all off a stunning vocal performance to ensure that much like the lyrics say this is one track won't be able to get out of your mind this summer.

With two hugely successful collaborations already to their credit Tim Bernhardt AKA Satin Jackets and Australian star Panama reunite on 'Back To Me' and once again the pair have delivered another winning combination of dreamy synth-pop pads, crisp disco beats, polished chrome production and heartfelt vocals. 

"After the last two singles I couldn't wait to hear what Tim would send me next," explains Panama. "When I first heard what would become 'Back To Me' I really got this feeling of returning to something important and wanted to write a song about finding yourself. It's like that feeling you get coming home after spending a long time away, just where the home part is really yourself."

A modern synth-pop anthem in waiting 'Back To Me' is surely the perfect soundtrack should you ever feel the need to roll up the sleeves of your pastel jacket and ride your motorcycle down a coastal highway, the setting sun reflecting in your mirrored Ray-Bans, a salt breeze ruffling your crystal tips.
